Toledo coach Matt Campbell will become Iowa State's next coach, sources confirmed Sunday.

Campbell is expected to be in Ames, Iowa, later Sunday, when an official announcement could be made

Not sure what to think. He was a former o-line coach, maybe they have found their Ferentz or maybe they are looking for a new coach in 3-5 years. I am leaning toward the latter. A run first, spread attack????? Not sure that is going to work. Other than scoring more points, they have to figure out a way to control the clock better. Otherwise the lack of firepower and depth will kill them. Occasionally, you can get away with it...... as Rhoads and Mac found out you will not get away with it every week.

They will get excited about it no matter what. Bottom line is that it's a monumental task winning at Iowa State. He may be a damn good football coach and still fail. That's just the way it is. A new direction is always exciting initially. Plus it gives the Cyclone fan base hope. Hope is what they live off of.

Sorry, but they just hired a coach that is going to run the same style that has failed in the B12 for ISU for the last two coaching staffs. Horrible hire. Like Nebraska / Brady Hoke level.

Spread, run first attack. If during the presser he talks about speeding up tempo just roll your eyes and expect a new coach in 3 years. They need to do the opposite they need to learn how to slow tempo and control clock.
