Todd McShay's Stock Report - DJK

Ironic choice of words in the first line there......nice recognition for DJK but he DID happen to set the all time receiving yards record at Iowa with that performance.

Stock Up:

5. Iowa WR Derrell Johnson-Koulianos
Johnson-Koulianos didn't set any records with his 70-yard receiving performance against Michigan, but he delivered in the clutch, with three of his four catches going for touchdowns in Iowa's 38-28 win at Michigan. Most impressive was his route-running savvy versus both man-to-man and zone-coverage looks. For example, Johnson-Koulianos' second touchdown occurred as a result of his ability to recognize Cover 3 zone and drive FS Cameron Gordon inside with a sharp double move on a post-corner route. Later, on his third score, Johnson-Koulianos used a hesitation move to slip man-to-man coverage by Michigan CB J.T. Floyd. Granted, Michigan's secondary is one of the nation's worst, but Johnson-Koulianos took advantage and delivered when QB Ricky Stanzi needed him most.

How funny and they claim to be the EXPERTS. Alllllrrriiiggghtty then.. I will move on as this crap never ceases to amaze.

Wow, what a bad choice of words. I can understand that he was trying to say he "didn't set the world on fire" or something like that, but Todd, setting records is EXACTLY what he did.

Yeah, he was referring to 4 catches for 70 yards not being a huge single game total, but it's funny that he used "didn't set any records" on the day that he just set the all time receiving yards record at Iowa.

The real punchline here is that Adam Rittenberg, McShay's coworker, mentioned the record in the first sentence of his "game sticker" for DJK.

Good recognition Nonetheless. 7 touchdowns more, I say he's there again rewriting the books.

Technically, he only needs 5 to rewrite the record book. Mo Brown has the record (maybe he shares it, I can't remember) for receiving TD's in a season with 11 in 2002. But I would love to see DJK walk away with the trifecta: receptions, yards, and touchdowns.

Big deal it wasn't 150 yards of catches, but he still average 17.5 yards a catch, I'd say that is a great stat and I'd take that any day. McShay is an idiot!

Interesting that all these posters in 2010 made such a big deal out of all of DJK's records but all his records did not last that long. McNutt broke his record for all time receiving yards the very next season and KMM broke DJK's record for all time catches a couple of seasons later.

If O'Keefe would have an uninterrupted reign as OC, those old receiving records would be like 5th on the all-time list by now.
