I actually called into the show for the first time since you and Deace have been on forever. Well here goes 1.5 hours of complete lack of productivity!

That is unfounded. Fuller, Gatens and Payne all were quoted in today's Rag that they are staying.

If anyone leaves...and I don't think anyone will...it would be some bit player that won't be missed.

Stormin, look at the last two weeks and Matt's comments, he is clearly frustrated and unhappy with what's going on. Do you really think he will come out and say he doesn't support the coach? I agree this is all speculation, but from my point of view, the writing is on the wall IMHO.

From what I had read and heard from people, if Lick is here next year..Gatens is gone even as much as he loves the Hawks he is still going to transfer out...don't take what the players have said in the newspapers as anything more than talk...they are not going to bash their coach or say they are doing anythign else than staying when they were asked the question.
 
Jon, you and Deace read far too much into the implications of Iowa vs Iowa State in this coaching change. It means really nothing. Deace was put on the spot with your question on head to head recruiting - Iowa vs ISU in basketball and he said 1 or 2 per year. I'd like to see that list of players Iowa vs ISU per year. Colvin is one that comes to mind, the other is Clayton Vette who is now at WSU. I don't even know if ISU was in the running for Cougs.

Iowa vs. ISU means nearly zilch in getting a different coach in either position.

I'm not referencing anything Matt has said, I'm just talking about him as a person. He lives and breaths Iowa.
 
Difference between Gatens transfering and just realizing that he is not an NBA player and deciding that being a student at Iowa and playing at the field house was fulfilling enough.

Which is why I could see him leaving. His love for Iowa has to make this more painful for him than anyone. To put that jersey on every day and endure the pain of what he dreamed of compared to what it is......I could see that being unbearable for him. We will probably never know, but I honestly believe, with no inside info whatsoever, that he was one of the guys who was ready to go if Lick was back.

I asked Deace the ISU question to get him wound up. I could care less about them as it relate to Iowa basketball. But the show is originated from DES moines
