White did get pulled for lack of effort on defense....which he is usually the high energy and effort guy. Michigan got to him today...I'm sure he will correct it.

What is the difference between good and slack defense by a competitor?

This team has a serious identify problem. Marble can't get to the rim against quicker defenders and is limited to shooting 3's. White is a great garbage guy, but seems to be lost on offense. I lost count how many times he drove to the paint with no clue how to finish and got stripped, threw up an awful shot, etc. Year 3 and guys can't play D and we remain a poor shooting team. As much as I like McCaffrey, the rest of the conference is adding better athletes than we are and that concerns me.

This is starting to show up in scouting reports I am sure. Until guys start knocking down threes with some regularity then defenses wont have to run at them. When the defense doesnt have to hard guard the three ball then white and marble have a hard time driving past and to the hoop, especially with B1G caliber defenders on them. White doesnt seem to have the explosive first step to get by a straight up defender.

Much will depend on improved long range shooting to open up the drives to the basket.

PS: Agree with Ghost. Why recruit Ingram to sit him and why not red shirt him if you are going to sit him? I am not sure what Ingram brings to the table, as he is clearly not a shooter, which this team desperately needs.

Ingram might play more against some of the weaker conference teams. Its tough to be thrown in against Indiana, and Michigan. Michigan state might be pretty tough to be thrown into the game. He might do some damage against Penn State, Nebraska, Northwestern,Wisconsin, and Purdue. Thats ten pretty important conference games if Iowa is to make the tournament. He might not play much this year too.
