Interesting to see Gesell have way more rebounds than white, olesani, marble, and basabe. I think gesell needs to shoot more when clemmons is running the offense.

Clemmons had a very good game ; assists, points, rebounds

Woody shooting 4 for 5 he needs to get touches and shoot the ball more, the offense needs to go to him more if he can score and or pop it back out for the jumper

white needs to vary his game and get more shots.

The defense is poor, their technique is too upright as I watch them and players just blow by them. we need to see some deep crouching duke style defense

Need to get them playing dolph pulliam belly button defense; watch the waist because that is the direction the player has to move.

I am amazed at only 7 turnovers, you would think we could have ran the offense better to get higher percentage shots if we werent having turnover troubles

You don't seriously expect anyone to be able to read that chart, do you?:p
Woody is playing very well right now. Our defensive effort was disappointing though.

I can read that chart easily... I guess when you have been looking at box scores for 40 years it is simple!

Michigan is going to do this to a few more teams before season end. Backcourt is an NBA backcourt. Patience ; Fran has things going in right direction .

I just hope this doesn't turn into meltdown mode. Iowa lost to a very good Indiana team while playing poorly. Hung with a very good Michigan team for a half. It'll come around. I expect them to beat MSU now and get on a roll. They are very young and Fran will prepare them well. Just remember what Fran started with when this all began.

LOVED THE DOLPH PULLIAM REFERENCE!!! Played some belly button defense for the Bulldogs in there 70s glory days.

I know. small print in newspapers. I guess my main point is our big guys need to hit the boards harder even if they get a few fouls.

Woody did ok on the boards but the other 4 I mentioned getting not much.

Hawks outrebounded by 15

I was just coming over here to comment on the box score. Woody and White combined went 7-11 from the floor. They each played 19 minutes. They need more touches and minutes. Meanwhile Ogelsby played the 3rd most minutes with 21. He was 0-4 from behind the arc. I'm not sure it would have mattered what they did on offense today. The D just wasn't there and Michigan is really good, but I'm not sure Ogelsby should be getting more minutes than White OR Woody.

Thanks man. I was in high school in Des Moines during those drake years, went to as many games at old vets as I could. back when tickets were relatively cheap.

The playoff game between drake and louisville in '70 was the loudest place I have been in for basketball, vets didnt have very good sound muffling acoustics at the time.

Drake just jumped on a great louisville team.

Dolph could shut them down.

^^ I agree, I wonder if woody gets winded easily in these race horse games and has to come out. But I thought our offense and defense were better when he was playing.

I think white got pulled for slack defense .

I would like to see white get a couple fouls rebounding, he did have one over the back today. He seemed to shy away after that offensive foul call on him.

Michigan is the real deal. They are a potential national championship team. It's not like Coppin State beat us this bad.

A combined 37 minutes for Ogelsby and May is way to many. I'd rather see Ingram out there making mistakes because he has a much higher ceiling than the other 2. JO only sees the floor vs a zone or if he can't get a shot off w/in 2 minutes bench him.

Today's game will define Michigan's season.

Today's game will not define Iowa's season.

White did get pulled for lack of effort on defense....which he is usually the high energy and effort guy. Michigan got to him today...I'm sure he will correct it.

The starters got in foul trouble. Ogelsby and May had to play.

We are really thin in the front court this year. I have no idea why Ingram wasn't red-shirted if this is how Fran is going to use him though.

This team has a serious identify problem. Marble can't get to the rim against quicker defenders and is limited to shooting 3's. White is a great garbage guy, but seems to be lost on offense. I lost count how many times he drove to the paint with no clue how to finish and got stripped, threw up an awful shot, etc. Year 3 and guys can't play D and we remain a poor shooting team. As much as I like McCaffrey, the rest of the conference is adding better athletes than we are and that concerns me.

PS: Agree with Ghost. Why recruit Ingram to sit him and why not red shirt him if you are going to sit him? I am not sure what Ingram brings to the table, as he is clearly not a shooter, which this team desperately needs.

Athletic on-ball defender, first and foremost. That's something this team will need going forward. Maybe he doesn't play a lot this year, but his services will likely be needed next year and beyond. Not everybody you recruit is going to be a 20 minute player.

Agreed, but can we start with 10 and see what he can do? What was Clemmons averaging a game before getting in the starting lineup? That has worked out.

I didn't expect a lot from Ingram, but the glimpses he has shown, I want to see more. Some people like to say let the more experienced players play while the young guys learn, but I am of the opinion that if the older guys can't get it done, find out if a younger player can.

Especially a guy that can play defense, would like to see him and Clemmons in the back court and he has shown some ability to get to the rim. I look at the LeVert kid at Michigan who was averaging probably 3 minutes a game through 8 games, but now is the sixth man on that team as an unheralded freshman.

People complain about Iowa's shooting, but they can't get to the rim either, Ingram has shown a little bit of it and he didn't embarrass himself against Burke today. Dribble penetration can create easier looks. Iowa isn't a good 3-pt shooting team and probably won't be, but dribble penetration could open some easy mid-range shots by allowing Iowa's shooters to pump fake dribble once or twice inside the three point line when the defender runs by.
