To the season ticket holder Sec.B, Row 20.....

Seats 1 and 2:

Thanks for selling/giving your tickets to a couple of obnoxious ISU fans. It is obviously no fun to watch the Hawks lose, but the non-stop, often sophomoric running commentary by these two "clowns" certainly doesn't make the experience any better. Every foul called on ISU is horrible. Every basket, rebound, steal by ISU is a great play. And when ISU takes control, the snide, smug and belittling remarks start coming.

From what I have personally witnessed...both with personal acquantences and at football games...this seems to be the norm. For a school that really has little to show (no Final Fours, no major bowls or league championships in football) they have an inflated self-importance over just about any win.

There were a good number of UNI fans at the Iowa game....and the ones I saw stayed classy.

In any case.....I realize ticket holders can sell/give them to anyone they wish. But c'mon....sell/give them to an Iowa fan. Make fans of the other team buy a ticket in the rafters and behind the basket. Don't let them have prime seats. I would literally throw my ticket in the trash before I let a Cyclone fan have it.

There is nothing more insulting in the state of Iowa than a fat 19 year old kid straight off the farm wearing a BIG Red and Yellow STATE sweater... talking smack about how the Hawkeyes Suck and how classy State fans are! ISU must have some sort of "train the farmer to hate" class. Very frustrating to deal with... I know they will eventually get an Ag degree from ISU and trade their STATE Sweater in for a Carhartt Bib and go back to the farm they came from, but even farms have the internet now... so now they log into Hawkeye message boards to find us to bother... ARGH!

Bashing farmers? Iowa city isn't exactly on the east coast. Talk about sophmoric commentary..........

threads like this are ridiculous. Every fan base (even Hawkeyes) has obnoxious, annoying fans. They are NOT the norm. I'm sorry you had a couple of knuckleheads behind you, and I'm sure the loss did not lessen your tolerance, but it makes no sense to bash the whole fan base (and all of Iowa's farmers as well) because of them.

Let me emphasize those aren't my seats (I don't have seasons) but how can you get upset at the season ticket holder?

Lets assume he sold them on stubhub or ebay. You can't control who the buyer is. If someone was willing to pay his asking price, then let the buyer take the tickets off his hands.

I highly doubt he just gave the tickets to ISU fans.

Sure it sucks sitting next to obnoxious fans. But blame the fans in those seats, not the season ticket holder.

I did not use just this example.....I also mentioned personal acquaintances and encounters at football games.

How can I be upset? I find it hard to believe the ticket holder would have to use eBay or stub hub to sell the tickets. I am sure he could find some Hawk fans that would want them.

I'd be surprised if he could get much selling on eBay or stub hub. But why risk it? I would NEVER sell my ticket to anyone that I did not KNOW was a Hawk fan. Like I said....I would throw my ticket in the trash rather than let an ISU fan have it.

I did say he had the right to do whatever he wanted with his tickets....he just did not use good sense.

You do realize the market for Iowa games is as low as it gets, right?

I bought group tickets to a game earlier this year and put extras on Craigslist. I didn't receive one email from anyone. I was asking $5 a ticket (face was only 10 or 12 I believe)

Also, anyone with season tickets between the free throw lines and within the first 25 rows have been season ticket holders for years.
A lot of people continue to renew their season tickets even if they are no longer local.

There's no reason to rip on the guy when nobody knows his situation. Maybe he doesn't even live in eastern Iowa and just sells his tickets every game to keep his priority.
I see nothing wrong with what he did. A Cyclone fan was willing to pay the price (or maybe they were friends of his and the tickets were free to them)

ANF?

I actually thought the Clones fans sitting around me were more respectable than the UNI fans that were there on Tuesday.

Anyone see clown fan in section gg row 4 seat 9. Wow he was something else. I hope he takes blood pressure medication. He could be a you tube sensation during a game. I can not wait to watch replay on dvr. He was behind isu hoop during first half.

Oh don't misunderstand me fellas... ANF is correct. Many of my very best friends and family are farmers. I always joke (but serious) about never calling a farmer dumb because I sure as hell would fail. I would be using the internet everyday for looking up "how to plant corn", "when to plan corn", "how much do I feed the animals and how often", "how much salt block to I lay around the field?" My neighbor would hate me from all the phone calls he would get... it would go along the lines of "hey Joe, what are you doing today? Should I be doing that too?" My farm wouldn't be in good shape.
Now, having said that... there is a big difference between and Iowa State farm kid and an Iowa farm kid. Maybe it was just in NE Iowa, but it was obvious. I never intended to make light of farmers as a whole. If you don't know the type I am talking about... you are very fortunate.
