To the naysayers

who are in complete negative mode after the 0-3 loss.

You should turn on the IU-Minny game. The Hoosiers are currently up 42-26 with over 2 minutes left in the first half. Bad losses like the loss at Michigan are going to happen, and the loss at home to Indiana isn't an end of the world loss. The B1G is really good this year and Iowa is not quite there yet. Yeah, they still should have beat Sparty at home but the other two losses aren't the end of the world.

Why can't all "It's not the end of the world" posts, be posted in the same thread?

I would like to see Iowa match the energy that Indiana showed in the first half, they never stopped attacking every aspect of the game. As many have pointed out, they were missing that energy and attacking mentality in the MSU game.

When Devyn Marble is considered your best player, you not back!

I love to watch Iowas team, but that has a lot of logic. Marble is a good player, but I will be surprised if he makes the NBA. If he doesn't make the NBA, I'm sure he will make money overseas. Next year Iowa might have a few NBA players on their roster.

End of the world? No

End of NCAA tourney hopes? Probably

Troof. Probably.

I still think the Hawks can pull 9-9 in the B1G and be on the bubble, but they can't stumble...at all. I love watching them, but the odds are not in their favor.

Still, good to be back in the place where an NIT trip would be disappointing to much of the fanbase.

I am not so sure Iowa has a "best" player, for Iowa to win it has to be a maximum team effort with everyone playing a role.

Iowa is back, but I know a lot of people don't see it that way until they get back to the NCAA, it isn't like Iowa is in a situation of say, PSU/NE/NW, the fans expect Iowa to be a regular participant in the NCAA tournament.

That said, I am pleased with where Iowa is at this point, they are competing at the beginning of the B1G season, that has not been the case for a long time. It is a process and Iowa is on its way to being a very, very good program again, they still have flaws, but when you have one senior on your roster that is a sixth man on his best day and a junior class that is inconsistent as a whole, mix that with one sophomore that contributes and start three freshman, but yet Iowa is probably a lock NIT team barring a huge letdown and still has an outside shot at the NCAA tournament for all that they can't do.

Very well said......

What up with this comment and where did this come from?

OK I'll admit it... Dev Marble is not a lottery pick and we all wonder if he'll even play in the NBA and are there are any NBA players even on the Iowa roster. Most pundits would say no... no NBA ballers on this team.

Yet this is not the 80's, 90's or 00's before all the foreign influx of NBA ballers and the HS kids that may have been drummed out and now play in the NBA.

No doubt Iowa needs 1 or 2 NBA players to compete for the Final Four and championships. In the meantime Iowa has a great group of Division 1 caliber players (many will be paid as pros overseas) and will for years, as long as Fran stays as coach, play in the NCAAs and battle for Big Ten championships.

ie... all you idiots...

IOWA is BACK

I don't consider myself a naysayer, just a realist. I do not believe McCaffrey and staff have done a very good job recruiting and I stand behind that despite landing Gessel and Woodbury. McCaffrey wants to run, but has not recruited guys that make sense for this style of play. To run you need guys capable of getting up and down the court and finishing at the rim-we have neither. It would also help to have shooters for secondary breaks, but not so much on this team. I would also add that in order to run, you need to defend, block / alter shots and rebound--again, not a strength. So call me a naysayer if you like, but from an X and O perspective, the talent assembled thus far is underwhelming IMO. We need big ten caliber players, not simply D1 caliber players.

If you think Iowa doesn't have Big Ten caliber players then you don't watch them play, the problem is, Iowa doesn't have enough of them at this point, i.e. cupboard bare with chirping crickets when he arrived.

Fran is doing a great job in recruiting and now has a good base of talent on the roster, but still lacking as a whole. The two players that step on the floor for Iowa next year will have a significant impact if they can give Iowa better bench production than what they are currently getting.

Once Iowa has somewhat equal talent Senior through Freshman you will have a different view, you will see a major change next season. It will continue to change the longer Fran is there.

Not calling you a naysayer, or a realist either.

Yes we get it, Fran is doing a poor job recruiting because he's not bringing in great athletes who are also extremely talented. You're right, if he would just bring in more blue chip recruits we would be better off. I don't know what Fran is thinking. Now, will you stop posting the same **** over and over?

It isn't Fran's fault though, it is all Dillard and Speraw for them not maximizing on their AAU/JUCO connections...:p
