To Bad about or Fumbles....

Coker is a nice RB and thoses early fumbles(in the rain) have made him gunshy. He is running very protective,not natural, and it's slowing up his style of running by protecting the ball extra. Hope he gets comforable and can break out his power/break away style. Dont get the impression that I think he doesn't need to protect the ball(cause he does) but he's thinking to much and not exploding into the hole like last year.

I watched the game, not saying he's not done good, but in the past he'd get through the first wave and GO!! now when he gets through the hole he covers up and it slows him down. He had a great game!! if he wasnt running tenitatively he'd broke of a couple of long ones.I'm sure he will!!

I doubt we will see anyone stacking the box against us the remainder of the year. Our 3 wide package will keep teams out of the box. And unless I am mistaken we ran a sweep effectively today. When was the last time we ran a sweep? The coaches didn't know exactly what this team was going to be going into the season. Lots of fresh faces and injuries in camp. Now once we start running a bit out of the shot gun single back formation we are going to give lots of different looks while still playing balanced Iowa football. If the defense and punt return teams keep giving shorter fields we are going to have a very potent offense.

I'm really not that concerned about the fumbles. I remember even the '02 team being fumble happy early in the year, and that got corrected as the year went on. We're awfully young at the position, so a couple of fumbles doesn't surprise me. I think it will be corrected soon enough. If we're still fumbling alot a month from now, then I'll be wondering WTF.
