Tis the season for de-commiting

Our coaches are gentlemen who respect the commitments that kids make even after their coaches get fired or move on. While it might be nice to think some of these kids would come to Iowa city, it isn't going to happen because our coaches are classy and play by the rules.

What in the hell are you talking about? We recruit dudes that are committed to other schools all the time. Lovett was a Rutgers commit and we are trying as hard as we can for him. Also the WR that is teammates with Colbert is being recruited a ton too.

Nebraska losing another recruit a 3* TE Leitao. Got a offer from Texas, took a visit to Texas, decommitted from Nebraska and committed to Texas.

I really wish we would stop bringing up recruiting commits that were committed to a school where the coach was fired or left. Acting like this is the same is silly. We do recruit committed kids, use an example where the kid wasn't left holding the bag.

Rutgers hasn't fired their coach so how do you defend that one? Stop making excuses for hypocrisy.

The university is making a commitment to the student athlete that pledges their commitment to come play at Iowa. Once that position scholarship gets filled they stop recruiting other players at that position... they don't make a commitment not to recruit other schools players. It's not hypocrisy unless they recruit other players after a player commits and pull a scholarship to an already committed player. Other Universities recruits have nothing to do with it, it is about commitment between that player and our coaches.

Speaking of things that can make a recruit think twice...........Paul Chryst's name being mentioned in the LA Rams search. Chryst's salary ranks #8 in the BIG. Alvarez likes to pull those purse strings tight.

I wouldn't have seen that coming. All that is I bet is Chryst trying to get a raise... I can't see them being seriously into him. They have tons of better options. It's LA for crying out loud. The job is Grudens if he wants it with a blank check. If he turns it down then it'd be a bit of a crap shoot but still doubt Chryst would make the short short list

Yeah, definitely a long shot but I would doubt Chryst is leveraging for anything at this point. If he does, I would then guess there is probably a little more smoke to his contender status. He might want to call Kirk and see how this can best be played. I would guess that Alvarez would be a harder sale vs. Barta.

Really disappointed in our staff for asking these young kids to break their words and change their recruitment status. I thought we were better than this. What has happened to us? do we put success in college football over who we are?
