Time to move the B1G Championship Game

The attendance of this game is going to be a major embarrassment to the conference that had an embarrassing season and still puts itself out there as the Alpha and Omega of Conferences.

Here is the problem. There are exactly TWO B1G Cities that can fly direct to Indianapolis. Those are Minneapolis and Chicago.

Beyond that, who is going to go to the conference championship game? If their team wins, they are going to want to go to the Rose Bowl. If they lose, they're gonna be ******.

The reason why the SEC championship game works is because half the alums of every SEC school reside in Atlanta and it is an easy direct flight from EVERYWHERE.

They need to move this game to Chicago ASAP, not just because it is easy to get to by plane, but because of the alumni bases of the B1G universities that can actually buy tickets without traveling.
 
Why couldn't it be played in one of the 2 teams' stadiums, like the Pac 12? It's UCLA at Stanford this weekend. Just curious.
 
I liked Chicago as host site and everyone complains about weather, but Dec 1st ain't that bad most years especially with global warming. NFL plays outdoors through Jan for crying in the night. Pac12 route is another way to go with one team hosting.
 
I agree, this game needs to be played in the founding city of the B1G and outdoors as the game is meant to be played.

Screw that! My buddy went to a steak house in Chicago once, and he told me they tried to charge him $93 for an 8oz steak before he dined and dashed. Outside of Indianapolis, their's a steak house called Tucker's that will give you a steak the size of a toilet seat plus free salad bar for $19.99.

What was I thinking????? The price of meat should be considered before considering where the site should be played.

But don't the real classy joints, like Red Lobster & Applebees, have about the same pricing no matter where you go?
 
You can get to Chicago.

It's more about the extensive alumni bases that actually live in the Chicagoland area that can purchase tickets to a game without flights or long drives and hotels.

I live about 5-6 hours from Indy. So it's two tanks of gas in my gas guzzler, 12 hours of travel time, the game ticket is probably at least $100 and two nights in a decent hotel on a big weekend, even in Indy will run you no less than $300. Add to that meals, and suddenly your trip cost you $600+ just for one person.

Juxtapose that to someone like OK4P who can hop on the train to get down to Soldier Field, for about $3.50. Doesn't have to get a hotel, doesn't have to drive. Doesn't have to eat out. He can choose for his day to cost not much more than the game ticket, and there are hundreds of thousands of OK4P all over Chicago.

I think if OSU was eligible the place would be absolutely packed, since its an hr and a half and tickets are going for face value and below.
