TIME TO GIVE SOME OF THIS NEGATIVITY A REST

Amen to the OP. Reading through the in-game thread yesterday was comical. So many whiners and ledge jumpers who forget that a football game is 4 quarters long.

Don't be that fan. Cheer on your team and enjoy the ride.

Couldn't agree more. Looks like a bunch of young children with their emotions are running wild.

First and 10 at the ISU 30 yard line with 51 seconds left and 2 timeouts. Not one throw into the end zone and we let the clock wind all the way down to 1 second to try a fake fg where the kicker would have to run 30 yards for a touchdown to get any points before the half ended. Let us not forget that we were down by 7 at half and that ISU got the ball to start the 2nd half. That was an inexcusable series of events. We were very fortunate. We played well in the 2nd half, but the first half was horrible, at times.

Don't confuse legitimate criticism(s) with negativity. Our staff still needs game day help.

How many here feel we should be a run first offense instead of a throw first offense? CJ is our playmaker, and he needs to lead the team and be directly involved in as many plays as possible.

I don't think questioning coaching decisions is negative. I think wanting Kirk's head for being too conservative then for being too risky is negative. Too many people just want to say Iowa is doing something wrong. Nothing is wrong, or negative with believing Iowa should have taken the points.

I still contend that people would have been praising him had it worked, which, I believe was very obtainable had the blockers executed better.

I'm pretty sure my drunk a$$ said this last night, but why throw the ball when we had plenty of time to run it and we were pounding it down their throat? It sucked that they stuffed us twice in a row, but the only thing wrong with that series was Kirk thinking our kicker had a chance to run it in from the 30. Still can't believe he actually almost got there.

It would have been an amazing play from the 20 yard line or closer. It was a perfect call as they had the outside sealed, but asking for your kicker to run 40 yards without getting caught is a bit much.

You are still posting today? lol wow! Quite the comments yesterday!!

Like people have never been around a message board before. It's a sports message board it feeds off of negativity and you not ever stopping that train DP, EVER!! Game threads are even worse. Lol some of you might want to eject yourselves from participating in them.

I'm still kickin'! Hey I'm not trying to stop any train. I won't hesitate to call out the nancies though. Enjoy the damn game. Life is too short and football games are supposed to be enjoyed.

Maybe he was enjoying it.

Sorry but IMO nothing worse than someone thinking they are better than someone because they don't think the same.

Terrific halftime adjustments - the D really dominated the second half. ISU couldn't do ANYTHING offensively. So I have to credit the coaching staff with a job well done.

Have to give coaching staff credit where credit is due!!

Classic KF win... 6 minutes left, could go either way and the 'developmental team' that has worked for 8 months, plays the 'Full 60' and puts hardware in the building!!

I'd like to see them use Parker on that same swing pass play that they throw to Vandeberg. Give him a chance to beat a guy 1-1.
Parker has proven time and time again that he should be nowhere near the ball during any part of the game while the outcome is still in doubt.

Stick him in there during a blowout and see if he can't figure out a way to cure his tendency to make boneheaded mistakes.

But largely, I've been very impressed with the overall makeup of this squad.

re: jet sweep - these early games are used to a. set tendencies - to be broken later in the season and to b. put in stuff that teams have to waste time planning for when they play iowa. how beautiful will the jet sweep be when we put him in and not hand the ball to him, rather counter handoff to that opposite side when everyone is moving towards the direction of motion?

So if you start a thread telling people to stop doing something it actually happens, right?

Negativity is part of any sports forum if you don't enjoy it then those types of threads, especially game threads.

But the constant hijacking of the KF haters to get the snarky's posted I don't have time for anymore. Your either on board or not.

Questioning the play calling is ok. But to not know the reasoning behind why the coaching staff was behind the play and then think you know better you come off as a buffoon.

Being "on board" doesn't mean blindly saying "yes" to everything that happens. I think you'd find that some of the harshest critics are also some of the most passionate and dedicated fans.

Bummer. I'm devastated.

For or someone who claims football should be enjoyed and fun. You sure get worked up over some pretty simple things :)

For for anyone who missed DP555 comments yesterday.
you tell me what's more negative a poster making comments in a game thread about the game or a poster being told to **** off and belittled. That's BS!!!

One difference at the end. The last possession KF didn't have them take a knee, they ran it at them and scored.

I agree. 20 or closer and I love the call reguardless of outcome. From that far out it was almost impossible.

I know everyone is saying it; but this team has a completely different feel to it than last year. This team might not be Ferentz' most talented, but they are really looking like a team; and playing Hawkeye football that we all know and love. As for Parker, I am not ready to give up on him, I was at the game, he got out there so fast, that the blocks had not been set yet. I like this team. And I know it is early, but if the trend continues, this might be Ferentz' best effort yet.
