TIME TO GIVE SOME OF THIS NEGATIVITY A REST

Average team? I'm not so sure? Find some wide receivers and this could be interesting. In any event we just beat Iowa State on the road. They have some weapons and a senior QB. We shut them out in second half with our best defensive player on the bench. We have at least one play maker at QB!

Im pretty sure we don't win the NC. Probably a sleeper at best in the Big Ten race. But no matter what Ferentz has done in the past (and some of it was less than great) give him his staff and players credit for really showing up big time in the second half!!

PS Lets not put Parker in for one play to run the sweep again

x1000 on the last sentence. Get him on the field, or keep him off. Being nearly one-dimensional, he needs to be utilized as both a jet-sweep threat AND a decoy. It's a disservice to the team to use him as a one-trick pony.

Agreed. Saw things on both sides of the ball that we have not seen for awhile, esp. the shutout D. A lot of good stuff in a team effort. Most all of us have been down on the program, I'm ready to watch the team improve from week to week and finish games strong. Was a high stress game with a big relief in the end!

I'm Right there with ya, man. I told myself if we started 2-0 I'd get behind Ferentz again. All of his talk over the off-season doesn't seem to be just Rhetoric. ALL IN.

I said the same thing. It was put up or shut up time and I needed to see 2 wins in the first 2 games even though I thought that would be tough. Great job changing the culture KF and now keep it going (do not revert to the old ways).

By the way OP using the ALL caps approach for the title. I am trying to think if it would come off less serious without caps. In all seriousness- GO HAWKS!

I agree. I'm back on board and will be at kinnick next weekend. I'll be the guy packing big heat in my trousers. Can't miss me

Time to give some of this negativity a rest is the title. :) lol but ends it with a negative PS. How fitting welcome to a Sport'S message board! You can't make it up!!

I'd like to see them use Parker on that same swing pass play that they throw to Vandeberg. Give him a chance to beat a guy 1-1.

Terrific halftime adjustments - the D really dominated the second half. ISU couldn't do ANYTHING offensively. So I have to credit the coaching staff with a job well done.

I still worry about having a consistent deep threat with our WR's but there were some timely passes for sure, and am encouraged by the way the OL dominated. The running game looked good.

One game at a time (cliche, yes) but looks like this could be a solid season if the team can keep building on what they've done so far.

Amen to the OP. Reading through the in-game thread yesterday was comical. So many whiners and ledge jumpers who forget that a football game is 4 quarters long.

Don't be that fan. Cheer on your team and enjoy the ride.

He is still making the adjustment to a position change, so we likely won't see that yet.

The problem is, if the ONLY times he sees the field are times when he actually gets the ball, it becomes a comedy, almost.

What happened yesterday on his carry was almost sad, for him.

You are still posting today? lol wow! Quite the comments yesterday!!

Like people have never been around a message board before. It's a sports message board it feeds off of negativity and you not ever stopping that train DP, EVER!! Game threads are even worse. Lol some of you might want to eject yourselves from participating in them.

I know it's only 2 games but a lot of people had us losing both glad to see some of the naysayers getting on board. We've all been critical at one time or another but it's time to get behind this team and fill Kinnick they deserve it. The team is doing their job now it's time the fans do theirs.Go Hawks

I would love to see Iowa get it going again under Kirk. He's very easy to root for (if things are going well though I suppose that's true of most) This team kind of has that classic overachieving Iowa team feel. Plus, we have QB who could be pretty good. I don't think the Iowa State team we beat yesterday will be as awful as teams from the past so in my eyes, a road win at a place that was pretty hostile after being dominated for a half is a very, very good win.

So if you start a thread telling people to stop doing something it actually happens, right?

Negativity is part of any sports forum if you don't enjoy it then those types of threads, especially game threads.

I think what has me feeling different is the fact we actually came back from a halftime deficit. Usually, a halftime deficit against ISU wouldn't bode well for a good second half.

Mostly agree with OP. You can criticize play calls without being negative. There were some certainly to wonder about, but overall a great win. Definitely things to improve on. We can not let a good QB stand back there and pick us apart like he did in the first half yesterday. This was great momentum builder for CJ! Can't wait for the Pitt game!

First and 10 at the ISU 30 yard line with 51 seconds left and 2 timeouts. Not one throw into the end zone and we let the clock wind all the way down to 1 second to try a fake fg where the kicker would have to run 30 yards for a touchdown to get any points before the half ended. Let us not forget that we were down by 7 at half and that ISU got the ball to start the 2nd half. That was an inexcusable series of events. We were very fortunate. We played well in the 2nd half, but the first half was horrible, at times.

Don't confuse legitimate criticism(s) with negativity. Our staff still needs game day help.

How many here feel we should be a run first offense instead of a throw first offense? CJ is our playmaker, and he needs to lead the team and be directly involved in as many plays as possible.

still not sure about the coaching staff's game management-but, KF's emotions are genuine and there probably isn't anyone else better at leading this team given the Sash death.

Iowa fans should get to Kinnick to see one of the only pro-caliber QBs in 30 years . CJ has starting potential in the NFL. While Stanzi has an amazing agent to stay on practice squads, he'll never start a game. Last Iowa Hawkeye QB to start in the NFL-was it Long? If so, that's about 30 years ago.

I'm pretty sure my drunk a$$ said this last night, but why throw the ball when we had plenty of time to run it and we were pounding it down their throat? It sucked that they stuffed us twice in a row, but the only thing wrong with that series was Kirk thinking our kicker had a chance to run it in from the 30. Still can't believe he actually almost got there.
