Tight Ends

With all the talk on our 'stable of TEs' and Iowa copying NE Pats offense and their use of the TE.....how many throws to the TE today.....especially with a young QB, you'd have thought there'd have been more than what, 2 throws to a TE? the one throw I do recall that was caught was a 3 yarder.....I recall two throws to CJ - any others to any other TEs?

But Davis said: "Davis said. ...... I’ve not coached anybody with his kind of size and hands.”

Because of that, Fiedorowicz is rated by CBSSports.com as the fourth best tight end in the 2014 NFL draft and the 77th best prospect overall.

CJ had two for 15. I now remember one of those was for a TD, and then late for 3 yards. I know there was one more thrown to him that was incomplete. Is McCarron a TE, or a WR? He had 1 reception for a gain of 0.

I don't understand that, at all.

McCarron is a WR. Just a little guy. RB in high school out of Dubuque.

you are right. I just skimmed the box score and he was last for a reception and didn't remember his name right away.

as i recall, we threw it 3 times to a TE today, and went 2-3.

oh, for the days of kok! :)

I also thought we have more than 1 serviceable tight end. I'm beginning to think all the Texas fans were right about Davis...

This staff still looks as though they are not on the same page offensively. Identifying the identity of this offense and this program is a must. Who are we and what is our bread and butter. Great offensive minds understand what they want to do. They have an identity. They have strengths and play to those. They take advantage of mismatches. That description sounds nothing like the Iowa staff.

Wonder if Davis even realizes that outside of Texas and the South there is a position called a tight end that can be used to catch passes?

Iowa has tight ends on the team? I mean, I hear the coaches talking about the tight ends and how good they are, but I never see them. This must be some incredible ruse being pulled over on us, because there is no real evidence of it. It's like the tenant who owes his rent - he's always just a day away from having the cash to pay it all off, but it just never seems to happen, hoping to dodge another month. That's how I feel about Iowa's tight ends. We're the landlords and the coaches are the deadbeat tenants.

I was looking for and hoping to see the TEs being used early and often and yea other then the TD CJF had and the td run Rudock had (I'm pretty sure CJF was the primary receiver on that but he was covered) I couldn't even tell when he would have been the primary receiver on a play. Either NIU went out of their way to bottle him up or Iowa was just going a completely different direction all day. I was actually hoping for more running. I thought the running game was solid and going into the 2nd half they should have just beat them down with it but that clearly wasn't what they tried to do. I would have thought after 3 quarters of that some easy play action throws to the TEs would have been available but sure didn't see any of that either. The whole 2nd half was a head scratcher to me

I've been hearing about these TEs going back to last season. They're the Iowa coaches' equivalent to internet legends.
