Tiger toast?

Withdraws (again) from the Players Championship. He was 6 over at the turn and the word is that he is just rusty. Hmmmm

Tiger is good enough to win tournaments on sheer talent alone.

But during his dominant days, he had the most talent, was the hardest worker, was the toughest mentally, and had the intimidation factor on his side. Those days are over.

At 35, with a creaky knee, after suffering an unknown amount of mental and emotional anguish, and with a new generation of talented youngsters not afraid of him - he'll never dominate again.

But he's probably not done winning. Breaking Jack's record is no longer a certainty. It'll be tough for him to win that many more majors.

pin- he had injured his knee and achilles at masters. he was resting it

He only needs to win 5 majors to break jack's record. That is a lot now, but he has 10 more years of his peak performance. I for one hope he doesn't get it.

That also means he has to win more majors than Phil has currently won to break Jack's record. I think when the knee improves he needs to start competing more regularly until he gets comfortable again. He has missed a lot of competition the past few years.

So, can I say that an injured knee and sore achilles affects putting more than any other golf activity? It was obviously putting that let him down at the Masters.

I agree that done might be a little strong, but to think he will get back to where he was is a little hard for me to imagine as well. I used to think he would break Jack's record, but I don't think so now. I wouldn't expect a win in either the US Open or the Open due to this injury. Maybe he can be competitive by the PGA but that is a lot to ask. Then, the clock starts ticking.

He will only play in the majors and whatever favorites he likes. Look for him to rehab over the winter and try to recapture the magic next year. I don't think he will break Jacks record now. He does seem to be aging fast!

Whoa cowboy. I was answering the question to why he didn't play between the masters and the players championship. I didn't say it had anything to do with his loss at the masters. he actually played better (sunday) after the injury.
