Tiger is on fire (en fuego)

This is the best I have seen him play of course in a long time. He doesnt seem to be a little off balance on his drives. Conditions are perfect but he is the only one really tearing it up.

His putts are not dying at the whole.

No sooner do I start this thread and tiger way overcooks a fade into a slice into the trees. But then it hits a tree solid and kicks back and into the fairway where he smashes a 6 iron 210 to about 15 feet away.

Could be the stuff that leads to a 59.

Yep, when you are 27 for 27 on putts under 10 feet after 32 holes you have just saved a lot of shots. I have said in other threads over the last couple of years that it looked like tiger was trying to make the putts just die in the hole. He has speed on his putts today to go a foot past.

This is awesome to watch. He looks better than I've seen him in years. This is good for him leading up to the major.

Yeah, but after hitting every fairway he loses his accuracy on the last 5 holes. But if he can keep sinking putts like that he will be hard to beat.

If he wins this weekend, which would be hard to not do at this point, it should give him a big mental boost. He's under a tremendous amount of pressure.

The last 5 holes were tough but he got himself out of a tough situation on 18.

Yeah that par on 18 was miraculous. You dont often hit into the trees, hit your second into the trees but get a clear line of sight to the pin and a drop, then sink a downhill 25 footer for par. That is a 1 in a 100 par.

But as to your comment I bolded how do you know or think he is under a tremendous amount of pressure. The guy has the record for most pga wins or close to it which is twice as many as Phil. Tiger has 14 major wins which is about 3 times as many as his closest currently playing rival, Phil who has 5.

What pressure? The only pressure Tiger has is made by himself on himself and a relic of the pressure his dad put on him. The only pressure is to win at least 4 more majors to tie or 5 to jump ahead of Nicklaus.

Remember Tiger's dads quote saying "his son will change the world (sic)" or a quote to that effect. Tiger hasnt done squat to change the world and he says nothing in public about pulling up the poor or deprived by their bootstraps.

I think it's necessary to thank you for proving my point in regards to the amount of pressure that he's under to win.

Also, Tiger has changed the world. He has changed the way that golf is viewed and has definitely changed the game of golf.

Tiger is not under any external pressure except the media wondering when he might win another major. But he has proved himself in everything golf so he may not be satisfied but the one who could put pressure on him is himself. If he cant be at least 98% satisfied with his golf career then I feel pity for the man.

Tiger has altered the pga tour and that is about it. He affects tv ratings and onsite attendance to a degree. Yeah a few more million people are watching golf. But the pga tour was always a leader in charity donations , etc but there hasnt been much of an ethnic change. There were spaniards, and europeans, and japanese and argentinians playing 40 years ago and more.

highlighted the only part of your post that matters. he greatly effects TV ratings and brings in a ton of casual fans. the hardcore fans will always be there, but the test for any brand/sport/business is to bring in the causal fans/consumers. heck, he was even largely responsible for many tournaments completely altering their layout/distance/fairways trying to "Tiger-proof" their courses. you can't write the history of golf with Tiger Woods, whether you hate him or not (and I'm one of the ones who don't care for him, but respect his game).

I can't take you seriously when you continue to make my point for me. It doesn't matter if it's him putting pressure on himself or the media continuously pressing when he's going to win a major or even the fans questioning him constantly that's PRESSURE.

It's also interesting that you saying him changing the PGA tour is "about it". You obviously don't understand anything about the PGA.

Let's not forget about his peers saying he's the best in the world or thanking him for putting more money in their pockets or thanking him for helping to make the sport more popular.

i'm sure there has to be a stat out there for how much the average purse for tournaments have gone up when tiger is involved vs not involved. same with ratings. he really has helped others to make more money.

I know its tough for some people to admit, but the game has just passed him by. No Major Championships in the past four years, not impressive. The fist pump celebration just isn't what it used to be. He just hasn't developed the short game to be consistent enough when the pressure is turned on. Now he has a whole new generation of young kids taking his trophies and getting in his way. Its just a matter of time before he is distracted by an Applebees waitress and that new girlfriend goes after him with ski poles(?) and he drives a jet ski into a manatee or something.

if what you mean by that is he isn't the player he once was, then you're right. but he still has enough game to win a ton of tournaments.

I would say people like Einstein, Newton, Jefferson, Guttenberg, Pasteur, Borlaug, Salk and many other inventors, philosophers, writers, scientists etc have really changed the world. Tiger has affected a game that is played by only about 10% of americans.

I have been playing golf for 55 years and I love the game. I think it is great that the PGA helps raise so much money for worthy charities but be realistic and know that Tiger plays a game but he doesnt save millions of people or make things or discover things that makes life better for millions or billions of people.

#1 in the World
#1 in the Fed Ex Cup
After tomorrow he will have won 5 out of 11 golf tournaments he has played this year.

Yep, the game has definitely passed him by you fvckin idiot

Tiger is the most celebrated Roid Monger in the history of the Roid Age. The only thing we can hope for is that he continues to putt like Barry Bonds in Majors.
