Tied for 5th...whoda thunk few wks back?

Fran prolly looked at himself in the mirror and got freaked out by his mirror image if Iowa lost 4 last games of the seasons

Had Iowa won the Minny game, they're the 4 seed. Had they won the Minny and Neb games, they're the 2 seed. That close.
The Selection Committee needs to look at the end of the Minnesota game. I really hope that's not what keeps them out of the tournament. With that win, they'd be a lock right now. Maybe Fran can't make that argument, but someone on Iowa's behalf ought to do it. Barta, it's time to step up.

Posters like him really tick me off. They have no clue. Fran is the best thing to happen to Iowa BB since Lute. We are very fortunate to have him.
I have to agree with this. When he took over, we may have had the LEAST TALENT of all power-conference teams. What he has done, so far, is almost miraculous.

This, and if you put that Goofer game in the win column, you can double down on what you said. Iowa would be a lock for the big dance.

You sure about that? Our RPI would only be 61 if you flip that game to a win. I think we would still need to win 1 in the BTT in order to be a lock and as a 4 seed we would likely have to face MSU.

Especially when you factor in last year's senior class developing a mental block for close games. They didn't just lose most 50/50 games they were in, they lost quite a few times where they were huge favorites late.

Without that crutch Fran had to work with, he would probably already have 2 really high seeds, 1 conference championship, and at least 1 sweet 16 or better. Of course, if you believe that coaches win close games and not players, you don't agree with my post.

Would have been most likely though maybe not an absolute lock. Would have been another impressive road win and a win against another top 50 RPI team (too lazy to look up, think they'd have still been top 50).

Well, maybe not but I would like are chances a lot better? :)

Upper division finish and possible NCAA bid, in a rebuilding year - I'll take it.

Though according to some, it's unacceptable in year 7, time for a new coach, yada yada.

You could argue that maybe the scholarships could've been balanced better, but still.. The future looks good.

56 says that Iowa has bottom 4 of the B1G talent and can finish no better than 9th and will probably miss the NIT......This was 3 weeks ago

Well if that's true, then you've gotta give Fran credit for getting his players to overachieve. :p

No matter how you slice it, something went right this year.
