Ticket prices for Hawk fans.

I know this thread gets started every year but I think its fair to bring it up before the season gets started.

Lets remember not to bend our fellow Hawk fans over when selling tickets. Dont be that guy that is charging more than face value for tickets. Its sickening to me how much some on craigs and ebay are trying to get for tickets. Tickets cost enough. Just think if you had a couple of kids and wanted to take them to a football game but all the tickets are about double what they should be. You wouldnt be able to take them. So lets remember to be good fans and respect the prices that were set by the U of I.

That's HILARIOUS...exactly which game will tickets be so hard to get at face or below outside of N Illinois? MSU? Once the downhill slide continues and the Hawks are 4-4 going into the Wisconsin game, tickets will be cheap.

If something miraculous happens and they are 6-2 or better, so be it. I will pay if I want to go.

I couldn't GIVE my Nebraska tickets away last year, and I tried, believe me.

lulz, buy from the ticket office for the first 3 games if you want face value or below tickets.

I sell my ISU tickets, always to Hawk fans I know, every year the game is in Iowa City and pretty much have half my season tickets paid for just from that one game.

Every year Hawk fans prey on other Hawk fans with ticket prices. I see no difference this year. Think about how much people are charging for night games. Its just sad.

People had years worth of oppurtunities to buy season tickets, thus guaranteeing them face value or less pricing for every game. There was never a waiting list for season tickets until after the 2009 season when Iowa just happened to be coming off an Orange Bowl win and had an extremely attractive home schedule in 2010, which featured ISU, OSU, Wisky, PSU and MSU all playing in Kinnick.

It was amazing all the people that were just posting on here that had all these tales about how Junior is finally out of youth soccer and now the whole family wants season tickets or how Pa had finally gotten that big promotion at the co-op and now he wants to finally buy season tickets that we all heard prior to the 2010 season.

And then they whined when they didn't get the season tickets they had so badly wanted for a couple months.

If parents want to take their little ones to the game, that's awesome. There is always a game or two on the schedule that the University will offer youth tickets for like 25 bucks. It won't get much cheaper than that.

The ticket office accepted season tickets from everyone this year.
As of this minute, only the Wisconsin game is down to singles.

Fans can purchase tickets to 6 of the 7 home games for face value right this minute(more than 2 in a row). If the Hawks start the year 4-0 and ticket prices climb, nobody can be upset that tickets are so expensive because they can buy them right now for face value.

Midfield seats require a $600 donation per seat. I see absolutely nothing wrong with someone wanting to get over $100 a ticket for those seats.

What I don't understand is that fans have no problem paying less than face value, but get upset if they have to spend more. You can't go both ways.

Also, keep in mind that some people could use a few extra bucks. If they can get $100 on stubhub, why would they sell them for $50 somewhere else? Sure, it sucks when you're the buyer and you can't find anything in your price range, but that's sports in general. If tickets cost $100, that means the team is winning. If they cost $30, then they are losing.
I'd rather pay more.

The thing is its just too much for most people. You get hotdogs, buns, chips, and a case of beer your $35 in. Then you get parking and thats another $20. Say you have a family of four @ $100 a ticket. Thats $455 and that like 2 weeks pay. Its just not fair. Some people just want to get in to see one game a year. There not doctors they cant go to all the games its too much!!!

You lost me when you said $455 is two weeks pay...if that is two weeks pay and you have a family of four you should be more concerned about feeding your kids.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....just stay home and watch it on TV then.

And who the hell brings a family of 4 to a sporting even like that? I've been going to Hawkeye games since I was 7 years old, and never sat in a group of more than 2 people together. (For home games, that is. We once had a group of over 80 people sitting together in the Metrodome).

If people are that concerned about getting to a game then skip the beer and tailgating and you can find a spot to park for less than 20.

Now I think you are trolling with the 2 weeks pay comment. If you're not, you poor as dirt.

Well I did some overtime and sold my old four wheeler on craigslist so Ill be just fine getting tickets. But theres gonna be a lot of people who just wont be able to go because it cost too much.

If you have an extra ticket or two and don't want/need to sell them, stop by the Ronald McDonald House near Carver/Hawkeye and give them to the guy at the desk...they have some very appreciative people who will use them! Also, for the less desirable games, I often see a Mom or Dad with a small kid and they need one ticket, just to get into the stadium. Since I have two season tickets, I simply give the other one to the kid and watch his/her eyes light up...fun! Big Ten games: I sell when I can. BTW, say what you will, but Out of Town is absolutely right...some folks simply cannot justify the expense of going to Iowa football games. I am lucky, (1) to be retired and (2) to be able to afford this small luxury. And, there are other things I don't do so that I can justify the expense of season tickets.

One game a year? Go to Missouri St. Two adult tickets at $55, two youth tickets at $25. That is $160 for tickets. You shouldn't be taking a case of beer if you are going with your kids, and you must be buying some VERY expensive hot dogs and buns. You could easily do the game on $250, and that includes buying concessions at the stadium, which I never do. It is unfortunate if $250 is outside your price range.

A family of 4 to a non conference game can be had for VERY cheap.

Youth ticket: $25
Youth ticket: $25
Adult ticket: $50
Adult ticket: $50
(this is assuming you pay full price. there are so many cheap tickets out there for the first 3 home games).

So 4 tickets at full price = $150
Parking is free. Park at Hancher and take the shuttle.
Bring in bottled water for your drinks. If you want flavored water, then buy those packets at walmart for $1.
So 4-5 bottled waters would be maybe $2.

I never buy food at the games. I eat before I go inside the stadium. A game only lasts 3 hours. You can go 3 hours without a bite to eat. Buy your food before you enter the stadium and that can be had for less than $15.

4 tickets / water to bring inside the stadium / eat before you enter Kinnick / park at Hancher = $167

You can tailgate for 3-4 hours before the game, too. So thats over 6+ hours of entertainment.

I don't know why people feel like they have to buy food/drinks inside venues. Eat and drink before you go.

Ohhh the Missouri St. game isnt going to be any fun. I would want to go to the Wisconsin or MSU game. The beer is mostly for the old lady as she hates football so Ill be the dd and keep her on the sauce so that enjoys her day and I dont get an ear full when we get home.

I've never asked over face value for extras I may have, regardless of the opponent. I don't care what the market is and I'm not going to factor my seat donation that I choose to pay into the ticket price. I have a job, I don't need to make mortgage payments off my extras.

Nobody is forced to go a football game.
