Throwback games in the fieldhouse!

Not happening. Drive to Iowa City, go in the building and look at the gym. You will see why this isn't even close to feasible. Sorry.

they just announced a sell out of 14,000 at the fieldhouse somewhere around the 36min mark i believe... isnt that what carver holds?

Guys, the North Gym is the gym with the old floor and to my knowledge the only space with bleachers. The track is around the "center" gym, between the rec. courts and natatarium and the North Gym.

OK as much as it would detract from the historical nature of the throwback game moving it into the north gym may just be what we will have to live with. The gymnastics team holds their meets there it has seating for 1500 people, plus the original basketball court is there. So let's have throwback midnight madness in the north gym on the old field house court in front of 1500 fans.

When games were played in the FH the Armory existed. The end zone seats at one end extended into the Armory. I was in the FH this year when i went to a fb game. It was the first time I had been in there since 72 when I graduated(never bothered to go in until this past season). Its a recreational facility now. I dont see how an intercollegiate basketball game could be held in there.

If Lick comes back it may be big enough however.

I was reading that in recent years Iowa has held 6 wrestling duels in the north gym due to scheduling conflicts at CHA. And isn't Iowa wrestling now even more popular than basketball? If it can handle a wrestling meet, why not a basketball exhibition?
