Three bowl wins in a row?

Iowa has never won three bowl games in a row. As bad as the losses have been this year, it'd be nice to get a bowl win. I am hoping for a Gator bowl birth, Outback is nice and all but its been since '83 for us in the Gator.

You wouldn't say that if you were thinking about traveling to the bowl game.

Jacksonville is one of the worst bowl destination cities, and Tampa is one of the best.

The only thing that works against it is that we've been to Tampa 3 times already, and I get that. But I'll take Tampa over Jacksonville any day of the week.

I think I'd rather go to the Insight Bowl than the Gator Bowl, if I was thinking about making the trip.

Agree! Outback Bowl is great. No desire to go to Jacksonville. I would go to Insight.

Jacksonville and Phoenix are about the same. Crappy overgrown suburbs with absolutely no character and a crapload of old people who can't afford to live in a better place. Both places have a chance to be not all that warm at that time of year.

No way I go to either of those games.

I agree too, Ive been to tampa a couple times. And I went to the 2004 Outback Bowl. It was great, awesome stadium great city. Amazing beaches. Jacksonville is just a big dump and so is the stadium there.

If we don't make the Outback bowl, then here's what we're looking at.....

Gator = vs 6th place SEC team. January 1st. (Jan 1st bowl used to mean something....now it's devolved to musical chairs...too many games and not enough interested viewers..thank you very much BCS). Right up against Outback, Cap-1, and TicketCity bowls on TV. Very diluted recruiting and viewing exposure. From what I gather JAX blows as a party town, is a dump and the stadium is a pigsty. It's not even that warm there.

Insight = vs 4th place Big 12 team. December 28th. Starts at 10pm EST...nobody's going to be watching on a work night (Tuesday)....so much for recruiting exposure. Cripes its the same bowl Iowa State and Minnesota played in last year. Tempe would be fun but good luck getting cheap airline tix as the Christmas crowd has already sucked them up.

Don't know which one is worse.

Yawn. We really screwed ourselves versus NW and Wisconsin this year.

Sounds like someone thought of going bowling...

But wound up in a gutter.

I thought it would be gator or insight, but every bowl projection I have seen has Iowa in the Outback......With the assumption Iowa beats Minnesota.

For those of you who have posted that Jacksonville is a dump. What are you basing your assessments from? Have you actually been there or just what you have been told? Personally I have worked in most of the major cities in the Southeast and I prefer Jacksonville over most other cities in Florida. Sure you don't have the fantastic tourist crap like disney, but it does have a laid back atmosphere and is far from a dump.

Both, and then some.

Been there, and know people who live there, and know people who went to last Gator Bowl there.

Spread out city, so your experience is like Miami or Orlando. Not that warm. Navy town with all the cheap Navy-type trappings.
