Thoughts to Ponder about KF-

KF has not once but twice gone undefeated in B10 play. The last time prior to him doing that was 1921 or 1922 I believe. He has his faults and shortcomings- who doesn't? But we went 80 years without it happening through some awfully good coaches and teams.

Fail

KF has 60 B1G losses in 17 seasons and HF had 61 B1G losses in 20 seasons.

yes, that is a bit worse than HF and one game last year was a non regular season game.

To me, the big shortcoming with KF is losing these 15 plus games where they were favored by 14+ points. Hayden Fry just hardly ever lost those types of games. HF won a lot of games when they were not favored or dead even.

Kirk wins a lot of games when the hawks are not favored as we all know there is some type of non-killer instinct or head coaching disfunction in this one aspect.

ui, just to be clear, HF had 61 Big 10 conference losses in 20 seasons and KF has accumulated 60 Big 10 conference losses in 17 seasons.

While true, the middle and bottom of the B1G is better and deeper than Hayden's days. It was the big 2 and little 8 for a very long time. You didn't really have to be great to be in the top 3-4 of the B1G, and the bottom 5 were pretty bad.

This is a legitimate knock on KF. I like and respect him overall, and has always stated the overall pros outweigh the cons, but the record against inferior teams should be better.

I ponder how we did not play OSU and other good teams those two years.

Lol,

I was talking to a coworker yesterday and we got talking sports and he asked who was my team and how they were doing. After I told him the Iowa Hawkeyes and who beat us last week he asked "Who beat you?" He then asked who the coach was and how long has he been there. I told him 17 years. He asked me how many national championships has he won?" "Gulp....... None." "WHAT!!!! Let me guess they don't want to pay their coach very well so they stick with the same guy?" "Gulp............. Well actually...........

11 teams have won the last 17 National Championships, 14 team have won the last 24 National Championships. While I understand the point, your coworker must not be a college football fan if he that shocked there hasn't been a National title in 17 years.

Only 24 different teams have won the national championship since 1960 (that's 24 different teams in 56 years).

If he is a college football fan, I'd be curious to know who his team is.

I thought the same thing. Awful presumptuous to assume a team has for sure won at least one National Championship in the last 17 years.

I don't think he is a huge college football fan to be honest with you. He was recruited by power five teams to play basketball however.

I do have to wonder this however; how many college football coaches are out there where it can be said that they have been paid a salary for over 12 or more consecutive years that has been ranked in the top ten of coaches salaries, and yet they have never even played for a national championship? Does that coach exist or has a coach ever existed where that can be said of them? I have no idea what the answer is but I think it's a fair question.

Don't get too technical by saying well he was ranked eleventh this year or twelth that year. That's not the point.

HF didn't have the luxury of being able to avoid both UM and OSU in the same season as KF has had the occasion to. HF consistently made it the Big 3 and little 7. You could argue that WUs, MSU have caught Iowa, as football programs and have surpassed Iowa.

Your point and my rebuttal are both subjective and cannot be quantified. The records are concrete.
