Thoughts about Harbaugh at Michigan

Harbaugh will get great players and he will play the best players. He will need some good QBs to jump start the program, they will have their pick of running backs, he will also need an elite linebacker and corner. He will want to smash mouth and go for the jugular.

IF they have 'elite' talent, then Brady Hoke is possibly the worst College FB coach in
recent history.

Sorry, I don't buy them having elite talent any more.

Hoke had top recruiting classes while he was there. Talent was not an issue.

An analyst during the Maryland vs Stanford game noted that the first order of business to expect from Harbaugh will be creating competition for everything; in the weight room, practice field, positions, etc. Novel idea as opposed to picking favorites based on PC interviewing skills and entrenching starters!

This is HUGE for the B10. Bad for Iowa but a great move to breathe new life and validate the league as a whole, not just Meeechigan. Fans sent a message to our so called AD with bowl ticket sales, hope he (or his replacementht) took notes before we get left behind on great hires like this one.

While I'm a 100% (40+ year) Hawk fan, I'm also a huge B1G fan.

This hire will be excellent for the league, thus, I'm all for it.

Will also be nice to see a program that can perhaps push OSU around for once.

Times, they are a changin.....

This. The conference made a great on-field statement this bowl season (while the SEC made a pretty poor one), and adding Harbaugh to the mix sets the Big Ten up to make a comeback in terms of national perception. I don't think the Chryst hire at Wisconsin should be overlooked, either. That's an excellent fit for Wisconsin, and he should be able to keep that train rolling. Michigan State has established itself as one of the nation's best, Minnesota is on the rise under Kill. Nebraska and Iowa are both kind of flapping in the wind right now, but both Maryland and Rutgers had solid conference debuts, and Penn State won't stay down for long.

All of that only increases my interest in tomorrow's game, because it only raises the stakes even further for the QB battle.

If true, that says it all IMO. Not only is he not greedy (although he's still being paid quite handsomely), he'd rather sacrifice some salary for himself so that he can surround himself good assistants. The guy just gets it, and knows he needs a good staff. Unlike another coach I know.

Are you really that stupid? Do you really think Kirk doesn't know he needs a good staff?

You sound like one of the idiots who thinks Kirk doesn't want to win, that he only wants to collect a paycheck.

Maybe he knows it, but he's not exactly succeeding in getting one these days. Some of them are pretty good, but we don't have top-flight guys anymore, either. Those guys went to the NFL.

You are actually going to say with a straight face that Ferentz knows he needs good assistants when he went out and made the laziest, most self serving, yes man, hire ever with Greg Davis?

You really just said that?
