Thoughts about Harbaugh at Michigan

1) It seems like only a couple of years ago, 'big blue' had made the greatest hire
& fit in the history of sports. Yeah, that's what you get for listening to Espin, I guess.

2) Deace is sort of sounding like another football sage, Lou Holtz, when talking
about Harbaugh.

3) OK, Meechigan hired a new coach. Now, all they need is about 45-50 new
Football players.

4) With Harbaugh pulling down $8 mil per, KF is certainly underpaid.
Hey, ask Mary Sue Coleman, or any compensation manager in your HR dept

Waiting for the mea culpas from all the ESPN talking heads who said Harbaugh would never go back to Michigan.

No, they'll be good right away. Hoke didn't recruit terribly at all, 38 4 or 5 star players over the last three years, including 16 on the offensive and defensive lines. Harbaugh will have them running over people and playing great defense next year. He went to 3 straight NFC championships, his only competition will be Meyer and OSU. Hope Michigan St enjoyed their little run while it lasted.

This is exactly what i was thinking as well. Meechigan has gotten great talent under Hoke, he is just an awful coach.

I agree with this. Michigan is going to do great.
If anything it makes me jealous. We're still stuck with an idiot coach who is overpaid.

BREAKING NEWS: Straight from UM AD Jim Hackett. Harbaugh's salary will be roughly $5M a year, plus incentives, same basic contract as 49ers.

Jim Harbaugh told Hackett he did NOT want to be the highest paid coach in CFB, or even the Big Ten. More concerned with pay for assistants.

If this is all true then that's pretty classy. Wasn't his original offer like 8 mill? 5 mill is still a boat load of money but taking a 3 mill cut right from the get go to help pay for asst coaches speaks volumes.

Or taking that $3 mil to pay assistants. His incentives could equal $3 mil.

Meanwhile, kfootball is still joyriding, in reverse, all the way back to 2002

If true, that says it all IMO. Not only is he not greedy (although he's still being paid quite handsomely), he'd rather sacrifice some salary for himself so that he can surround himself good assistants. The guy just gets it, and knows he needs a good staff. Unlike another coach I know.

I hate MSU and OSU with a passion. I hope that harbaugh rides roughsod over both of them. Then Urban gets the itch to go back to the SEC where he can cheat with impunity. Dantanio hangs it up because he can no longer hang. After a 5 year run..Harbaugh heads back to the NFL. And they all revert back to suckitude(at least in their fans eyes)

Yep, his staff is going to be top notch as well. With a great hire, look at the excitement already. Recruits will come, fans will come, and they will win. Novel idea huh?

They mentioned Harbaugh has some "deferred compensation package" to be decided upon after each season. I think he will be getting significantly more than $5M a year, I think signing a contract for the same amount as he was making at San Francisco was more of a **** you to Jed York and the 49ers organization.

Yeah, like that was a hard one to predict.

$5 mil guaranteed to coach your Alma Mater, that happens to have a
'pretty good FB tradition. ESPN has more derelict pinheads than.........

IF they have 'elite' talent, then Brady Hoke is possibly the worst College FB coach in
recent history.

Sorry, I don't buy them having elite talent any more.

Based on that assessment all recruiting sites would be considered a joke and I don't think that is the case. Michigan has talented recruits. The problems with Hoke in my opinion revolved around continuing to develop that talent in addition to schemes best suited to maximize that talent. I don't think the absence of elite players was an issue.
