This Week's Rooting Interests

No, now ISU is playing against us for a bubble spot. We want them to lose. We can replace that win with a win over Illinois and the QTRFNL game in the BTT. If ISU beats Okie State, then we will want them to beat WVU because they will probably be in with that win over Okie State.

There are plenty of teams to root against to "pop their bubble", Iowa State is not one of them. In order for Iowa to have any hope of even being considered for an at large bid they have GOT to get a respectable RPI. The amount of games and record against the top 50 RPI is huge and Iowa moves about 3 spots up or down every time Iowa State moves in and out of the top 50. The RPI and SOS are still glaring weaknesses on Iowa's resume. Iowa is a long shot to make the tournament with an RPI in the 70s, probably in with an RPI in the 60s. Since the changes to the RPI no team has ever gotten an at large bid with an RPI in the 70s. Just beating Illinois, Nebraska, and a first round BTT game is not going to get Iowa into the 60s (might get them into the 70s). This means Iowa needs help, so while the rest of you are rooting for bubble bursts I am rooting for the teams that can help Iowa's RPI.

You have to keep in mind just because a bubble team loses that does not necessarily drop them below Iowa for an at large bid. Iowa still as a lot of work to do in order to even get consideration and it all starts tonight against Illinois. This thread, along with Iowa's tournament at large shot, will be dead if Iowa does not win tonight.

Wrong. Iowa has a distinct advantage, head to head. ISu will not drop below RPI 70ish even if they lose out.

Our RPI will be mid 70's by beating Illinois.

That is pretty cool, only 3 of the 97 bracketologists have Iowa in the tournament. It was last updated last night, hopefully this will still be of interest to us tomorrow.

Not sure if you have enough talent to pull off this sarcasm, but I'll give the botd....

You're doing it wrong. Go back and look at this time last year and the teams that had as many brackets as Iowa. How many got in? Your kool-aid is getting warm better go chug it down real quick.

How do you make it through a day without hurting yourself?

How many of those teams didn't make it because they lost one or more of their final 3 or 4 games? Run along and do your research and get back to us.

I don't even know what you are talking about. You and Hawkdoosh33 make less and less sense every day. I think its funny how bold you two lovers have become since the mass bannings. Where were you hiding before? Too scared to come out and get flamed I guess.

Oh, and you should run along over to the other thread where I pwn you on your nonsensical diatribe on the RPI and take a lesson.

I hope you are right but I do not see how our RPI will drop 11/12 spots by beating Illinois at home, on the road maybe.

But I will stick by my reasonings of needing ISU in the tournament and a top 50 RPI team. Each teams resume is broken down by record vs Top 50, Top 100, ect the more wins Iowa has against RPI top 50 carries more weight then wins over top 100. Like I pointed out before Iowa moves 2/3 spots in RPI every time Iowa State moves in or out of the top 50. Those 2 or 3 spots could be the difference on whether Iowa gets in the tournament or not.

Because it would have a similar effect that Minnesota had, and that was more than 10

I will continue to root against the clones, even if it hurts the hawks chances. You just can't change some things.

Bubble teams are popping. If Iowa held off Nebraska I think we would be in right now. Need to keeping winning to work our way in!
