This Week's Poll: The Most Painful KF Era Losses

Western Michigan. It was unreal watching the players leave the field, obviously embarrassed. I was still parking at Finkbine back then, and I've never heard so many fans angry.

I will NEVER forget the silence as we walked out of the stadium in 2005 after the OT loss to Michigan.

We had this tremendous win streak that was snapped, and everyone seemed shocked and speechless.

As I recall, there were some horrendously bad calls by the referees throughout the game that had the crowd 6 degrees of ****** off!

That same silence was there again in 2009 against NW when Stanzi went down.

The Northwestern loss in 2009 was the worst for me. Lose an undefeated season and your starting quarterback. I put 2002 ISU on the list as well but that loss is only painful in hindsight. Nobody thought they'd run the table the rest of the way at the time. The other one for me was Wisconsin in 2010. I'll never forget that game.

How about the 10' Zona game? That really started the downfall to the season. If we pull that out, who knows what the mentality of the team would have been.

There are going to be some games that were painful for others...I tried to pick the ones that I felt were universally painful for some reason..that AZ game was the trap game of that season IMO so losing it wasn't like the biggest shocker ever...but now that I think about it, it probably deserved to be on because of how Iowa lost it, having come all the way back

These were my picks as well. The 2002 loss to Iowa State was very painful at the time as they gave that game away, it got even more painful as the season progressed and Iowa got into NC discussions.

Wisconsin, omg everyone in the stadium knew that fake punt was coming except for our players and coaches. The Northwestern loss was more about losing Stanzi than anything, they jumped out to a 10 point lead and after he got hurt nothing.

These are my picks exactly and it was easy for me to pick these 3.

Why in the world is 2008 @ Illinois on there?

I picked 2010 Wisconsin as one...it was the loudest I have ever heard Kinnick and I watched it from the Iowa sidelines as I was working for the BTN that day....and I had to swallow the pain because I interviewed Bielema 1 minute after the game was over on the 50 yard line and had to pretend I was happy for him ;)

In all honesty, I don't know if I am over the 2010 Wisconsin loss yet. That loss and the Arizona loss that year actually kept me up all night.

By the time Minnesota got around, I didn't care anymore. Last year was kind of the same thing - any heartbreak was easily squashed by the fact that the team wasn't very good anyway.

Of all of the things JD says, the one that is actually 100% right is that all of the furor over the state of our FB program is still over the 2010 season.

The 2009 Ohio State game I do not remember being painful at all, in fact I was surprised at how close we came to winning that game. No one expected Iowa to do well against Ohio State after losing Stanzi and see how bad the offense was with Vandy at QB. About the only painful memory is the Stross drop and not going for the win with 50 seconds left at the end of regulation.

I can see why that game is on there. We were playing for the Championship and we lost in OT because we played it safe.

That loss wasn't painful. Wasn't everyone else so fall down drunk in the stands that they didn't know the outcome of the game until the next day?

You lose a game in OT where the winner wins the Big Ten and goes to the Rose Bowl, that's painful man ;)

'02 ISU
'05 Michigan
'09 jNW

As with the other poll, I was in attendance for all of these. The ISU and jNW still make me physically ill, and the Michigan game makes my blood boil. Worst officiated game ever.
