This team is mentally weak

Whenever they get down and the other team goes on a run, they turtle up and all but give up. This is the second loss in a row where they just folded when a lead was growing and they did little to stop the bleeding and try to get back into it. Iowa's body language is terrible when they lose a lead and player mope around and nobody is trying to pump anyone up. Waspurn was openly mocking Clemmons all night and nobody got ******. There is no emotion out there and I know the kids want to win, but they sure look like a fragile bunch when get they down.

This is a coaching and player problem and I don't know how you fix it. Something is seriously wrong with this program.

The problem is that they are physically weaker than they are mentally. They just aren't good.
I won't argue with that. There was no excuse Iowa didn't push UNI around in the paint last night. They don't even start a true center and Iowa couldn't do anything down low.

This pretty much sums it up for me as to why......Just look at the body language of Fran and Staff......Someone else started a thread stating Iowa as a "Beat team"....well, here ya go...

I agree completely. You can see that they're playing without confidence and a fighting attitude.

Not only are we always PHYSICALLY outmatched but if we miss a shot or two and the opponent goes on a say 6-0 run, we just curl up into a ball and start shooting desperation shots.

Hell, they curl up and start shooting desperation shots if it's only 6-2 and they're down!

Fundamentally dead basketball team.

I don't even know who the leader is. It should be White as he's said this is "his team" before, but he's not the leader. Everyone just hangs their head together.

Last night was a winnable game but it felt like it was over after that 6-0 UNI run. All the life just got sucked out of the team and there was plenty of basketball left.

I don't even know what's going on with White. He's not the same as he was last year. He doesn't look to score first, just passive and not aggressive. Just seems lost out there and doesn't have the desire anymore.

If he can't get a fast break on someone he just doesn't take shots often. Last night he hit a three but then didn't shoot for some time. I know he can't create his own shot well but there is no excuse for him not taking shots and driving.

Especially for him being our "Leader". He needs to take over the game and get a lot more aggressive.

I said this team was mentally weak after the ISU loss.

I honestly don't know what the fix is. I have never seen an Iowa team fold as easily as this one. The season is about to get away from them....if they start the conference off poorly, I can imagine an epic collapse. There is no team unity. None.

We need fiery Fran back. And the entire team needs to sack up.
