This season is a success if..

Winning a bowl game would be quite rewarding indeed.....

However I would prefer a team Not from the Pacific Coast Conference.....

Since 1957 and 1959 when the Hawkeyes won the Rose Bowl games in convincing fashion.....

Our record against the Pacific Coast Conference is: 1-8, winning only in 1993 a 37-3 victory over California.....

In the meantime we have lost to Pacific Coast Conference teams with a combined score of.....

459-137.....

Please, Dear Lord, do not give us a Pacific Coast Conference team to play this year or next.....

This is a successful season.

Now we're just waiting for which adjective(s) to go add if any.

As others have said, win the bowl game, get to 9-4 and ranked Top 20.. I'd call that a success.

8-5 and unranked, considering last year's success and what we had coming back? Meh, not so much. Not a disaster but a bit of a let down. So yeah, how I view this season once it's over will mainly hinge on how this bowl game goes.

This thread is very similar to the "Great Season" thread. Again, I feel like you guys are mostly focused on the "Bad Losses" over the simple fact that had we beat Wisconsin we would be West Champs right now with the shot at big bad tOSU. All the fear of us playing Stanford….would you guys be scared of our opponent if we were playing tOSU? How about if we beat tOSU? And please don't confuse this with Kirk support or any of that other crap. I was lost on this season until Friday, even with the Mich win. But that last game really turned it all around. I'm drunk off Hawkeye Kool-Aid once again….
And if...if...if. We didn't beat Wisconsin so it doesn't matter.

This season would have been successful if we didn't crap our pants against NDSU and NW.

In the last 2 bowl games, both Offense and Defense sucked. But this year, I'll take my chances on the the 9th ranked scoring defense over the 118th offense.....Davis need go bye bye.
Are you linking Davis' offense with Iowa's losing in bowl games 'cause,IMO, the onus for Iowa losing in bowl games is on the defense.

You know, It's hard for an OC to make a coherent offensive game plan when you're down 3 touchdowns in the first quarter...and have KF and lots of Iowa fans on HN with a questionable knowledge of offense looking over your shoulder.
Ya know, if Iowa had a lights out defense, a lot of these problems in bowl games and against good competition would just go away. Why doesn't Iowa have a lights out defense?

Again, not sure of your point. Both O and D have been bad in the last couple bowl games. if we had a lights out offense...the same could be said.

coaching/prep/gameplan was clearly poor for the last 2 bowl games. Neither of those teams were that much better than Iowa, they were better, but not as much as the score. Neither was PSU this year. And we probably aren't 4 touchdowns better than nebby.

Iowa needs to have hair on fire this bowl and win. let's just agree on that.

This Season Would Be A Success if we would of beat NDS,Wis and NW.All three were doable
All we can do now is save face and win what ever Bowl Game we go to.
