This just doesnt feel right...

True but HE did what was required by his JOB to do...sure morally it sucked, but really there is nothing the police can do about it. Really once he told the AD it was in the AD's hands to handle it.

However after all he has done for the university, the way he was told he was fired was kind of a joke IMHO.

It's kind of ironic. but had he made one phone call nine years ago he wouldn't have received the one he got last night.

He didn't receive a phone call. He was supposedly given an envelope with a note that had him call the BoT. He placed the call in which he was told that he was fired.

If it's the rumor I've seen on Penn St message boards, it might change the way a lot of people see McQueary.

McQueary should be in jail. He witnessed a rape, did nothing to stop it and didnt go straight to the police.

Thats the most messed up part of this story to me.

With this whole firestorm I actually don't mind that process of notification.

They needed to do this as swiftly as possible. This is way bigger than one guy and his job.

Some of you might not understand how University boards work. They are individuals from across the state who meet at scheduled times to address issues. They are not set up well for crisis intervention.

If it's true that he is still on the staff they may want to consider where he is going to be at the game Saturday. After watching ESPN last night, it seems as though he is receiving most of the ire from the students.

If someone on Joe Pa's coaching staff bought an athlete a car or gave them money and he covered it up, he would be fired. Yet, somehow, if someone on his staff rapes (allegedly) young boys and he (either intentionally or unintentionally) covers it up, he should be allowed to coach the rest of the season? Give me a break.

Bash me all you want, and im expecting it, but i truely feel that JoePa does not deserve this and that he should coach on saturday. Joe is not the criminal here but many are treating him like he is, and the real criminal is being lost in all this. Im afraid this will be to much for Joe and will break his heart.
this just isnt right for a man like him, id be out there with all the students right now if i could.

Did the kids deserve to get raped by JoePa's D coord? I can see both sides of the situation but this is the proper course of action by the university.

JoePa deserves everything he gets. He legacy tarnished, fired in shame, all of it. I can only hope that he is eventually prosecuted like the other pieces of **** involved in this story. They all deserve the worst.

Joe had a responsibility well beyond any university procedures handbook to report this to the police.

His morning statement that he was going to resign at the end of the season and that the Board of Trustees did not need to spend one minute dealing with his future was beyond arrogant; it was a total CYA and a big jolly roger to the BOT.

Even in the way he was informed that he was being fired, the board showed him more care and concern than he showed the young victims of his former defensive coordinator.

I feel similarly, he is, by far, the least culpable of the men involved, including McQ

I thought that JoePa should finish out the season

I hate how we still have to use "allegedly" when we speak about this. Usually federal indictments are made when there is 100% conviction rate. very rarely, does someone not be found guilty when a federal indictment is issued. It's probably safe to say that this happened. Not allegedly, but actually. Was witnessed, mishandled and covered up. All sorts of wrong went on. I agree with your comments, just wanted to point this out as ESPN keeps focus on the wrong issue. This whole thing is sickning on so many levels.

I do feel some bad for him. From everything I've ever seen or heard he was loved by many.

However obviously there is something not quite right with this guy - why would an 84 year old man still be coaching. I always thought of that to be selfish in nature.

But what happened under his watch is unexcusable and so in that there is no pity really.

Coach, I am disturbed. I just walked in on Mr. Sandusky naked in the shower forcing sex on a 10 year old boy.
Thanks for telling me, I'll let the AD know.
Decision up the flag pole, tell Sandusky he is no longer allowed to bring children on campus.

What should have happened. Tell Sandusky that he is no longer affilated with the university and not allowed on campus. Then turn all evidence and reports over to authorities immediately. No other thing should have happened. I hate to say it but the real message that PSU sent was well yeah, Sandusky abuses children, we know that, but it won't be here anymore. That is just wrong. More people are going to lose jobs or be brought in on charges. I agree with other posts in that Jo Pa could potentially be brought up on criminal charges as well which is really what may have to happen. He wants to teach responsibility to young men, this will be his final lesson.
