"This is the Iowa way, Binns said"

"After Daniel sat behind Clayborn at end in the depth chart for the last couple years, Binns said he in particular appears to be seizing his opportunity as he enters his fifth season in the program."

I think a shorter version is "reloading".

If you need a pick me up on our up coming D, this is a good read. Sorry if it has been posted before.

?Next Men In? at D-Line for Hawkeyes - The Daily Iowan

The play of the projected new DL starters: Daniel, and Alvris/Carl Davis may have more to do with the success of the team than any other new starters(w/the exception of Vandenberg). For their sake, at least in a sense, it may be a good thing that the DL was a little disappointing last year. They're replacing great players, but players that didn't have great years. The pressure to perform well will be there but, the bar has not been set ridiculously high. My hope is the LB play is such that it compensates for a likely drop off in DL play. There seems to be a good chance of that happening. Morris, latest weight is 230#. A full off-season being Doylerized will make it significantly stronger and better able to manage dealing with Big Ten play. He's already a "phenom" in terms of his grasp of the defense. Nielsen, was playing at a level comparable to Edds play before he was injured, and seems back a 100%. Added incentive to play well as a senior should be inspiring him this off-season. The other LB spot is more of a question mark, but it's likely they'll be better athleticism and depth there than last year.

Love it ... I think we will be just fine on the defensive line front.
Yeah, I like to hear things from people who are in the program or who are now nfl but come back to train. Here is another I dug up, I know espn touched on this, I used it while talking to some Nebraska fans. Cant recall if espn beat me to it or not. Anyway here is a good article on Prater, enjoy. Pay attention to how he works out this summer and with who and what that person says about him.

I've been playing a fair amount of NCAA 2012 on my new XBOX and I'm a little worried. The d-line's been getting tossed around like rag dolls, but thankfully, I am an offensive mastermind (like my namesake) and have held up pretty well.

Apparently your NCAA 2012 doesn't come with a "Doyle" or a "Parker" feature...;)

Gheesh... virtual reality and video games give you a clue to the Hawkeye FB 2011 fortunes.

2010 sucked because of the injuries to the line backing core and Jacody Coleman didn't come back to address that scenario. if only...

A couple of bone headed decisions by the coaching staff... we all make them.

And of course the cheaten' THE OSU Buckeyes.

who knows what may have been in 2009 (w/ the sprain killer to Ricky) or the 2008 4 losses by less than an average of ... what was it.. 4 points?

The Hawkeyes are that close to BIG 10 Champions, year in and year out... a BCS Bowl.

Again this year. My over/under is 10 wins and betting on the over.

And you?

Nice little rant, aaron. Does the date November 3, 2007 ring a bell with you? Let me clue you in on something, pal. That was the last time Iowa beat Northwestern behind the leadership of Jake Christensen. 1,362 days. Longer than the period between D-Day and V-J Day to put it in perspective. When the Hawks finally figure out how to stop Northwestern, I might share your optimism, but until then, keep drinking the Kool-Aid. Drew Tate couldn't beat NU. Ricky Stanzi couldn't beat NU. What makes you think Vandenberg can?

Because Jake Christensen could.

see, at leaset OK4P recognizes that JC was the best iowa QB of the decade.

note: that was sarcasm for those that couldn't tell

Noted on the sarcasm, but i think that OK4P really believes that JC was the second coming of Iowa QBs

Unfortunately, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

Being close every year when fans know they have the better team gets old for many fans and can even divide them. But then Iowa has a year like a couple of years ago when they won all the close games and went to the Orange Bowl. Yet they were still beaten by NW...now Iowa fans know how Penn St fans must feel.

All in all though watching Iowa football these days is great fun and entertainment. Now to just get the bb team back...
