This is just ugly

As we've come to expect against any team that is ranked or above .500 in league play really, Iowa is being embarrassed. Purdue is simply the superior team and it is not close.

Am I correct in that we scored 3 points in the last 12 minutes of play? I'm pretty sure we had 12 points with 12 minutes to play. Absolutely ridiculous.

We just look outclassed today, I can't think of any other way to put it. It doesn't look like any of our players can beat Purdue's players off the dribble, and that equates to having problems on the other end of the floor. We just don't seem to have the athleticism to extend the defense and bother anything Purdue is trying to do offensively.

Not only can we not get a good shot off, but our guys appear to be incapable of making a successful pass thirty feet from the bucket.

at 16-12 cully drove but couldn't convert and fuller missed the putback. that was pretty much our last sign of life.

I am taping the game but probably won't watch.. as usual.. looks like Cully had 6 tos..
When a team really pressures us we have 0 chance.. our guards are not very quick compared to the rest of the league.. but I guess that is no secret.

What did u guys expect? We are young and on the road in a hostile environment against a great ballclub. We have Michigan next at home. Who cares about this game. If and when we beat MIchigan we can all rejoice again about the strides we are making and how great we will be next year.

There is nobody open. Its hard to get open when you don't have an offensive system that works.

Yeah I always look forward to being able to rejoice 8 to 12 times a year..:D

Who cares about this game? If that is your attitude, why don't we just forfeit any game we are supposed to lose?

Yeah, we are young, but common... It's no excuse for getting absolutely dominated.

The "we're young" excuse is getting old.

These guys have played 25 games together, most for almost the entire game, these guys are not young anymore. The only games they look reasonably good is against bottom feeders like Iowa.

We should not be getting dominated on defense like this unless we simply cannot play this kind of defense against the better teams. IF we can only play good man to man against bottom feeders then something is very wrong. IF we can only play the offense that Lickliter wants this team to play against bottom feeders, then something is very wrong. What that means is this team is not going to be much better next year simply because we have the same players, with the same quickness and athleticism.

Adding a freshmen class ranked 7th in the Big 10 will add some depth but that is about it. Iowa will still have to play the same upper division teams with the same quality athletes who are quicker and bigger on the road. How will that change? We will still have to play those teams at home, those teams will be a year older also and THEY will be better.

But at least we can feel warm and fuzzy when we beat Penn St and NW at home. And we will have great series with NW because both teams will have full white teams out on the floor and both teams can play outstanding defense and offense because we match up so well against each other. Then reality kicks us in the *** when we have to play teams like Purdue with their athletic players....but at least we have a solid foundation, eh?

Obvious illustration of the athleticism of the top 5-6 teams in the Big10 and the rest. Iowa is nowhere near the top 5-6. Even though the Hawks are "young" (I'm sick of hearing that), can't "young" players be athletic?

I caught the last six minutes and don't recall one pass into the paint; in fact, don't recall one attempt to pass inside.
