This Has to be the Dumbest 2 Weeks in the History of the HawkeyeNation Board

Chosen, "Longtime listeners, first time callers" are posting. Why? Because they are as fed up with the staleness that our program has become. Some have been beating that drum for awhile now...was it always justified? Maybe not, but to them (and almost all on here are Hawk fans of some type) it was how they have felt. Now 1/4 into this season, and after years with all that we have seen (or actually, not seen) many more of us are now also fed up. This game, ISU or not, was a complete disaster. Maybe not everyone, as you Chosen, have maybe yet to feel the need for change, but there are certainly many, many more that have now jumped on that ship.

BirdsOf throws out "numbers" of so called "silent" fans that are content with the status quo. I say "bunk", I am seeing/hearing frustration out of pretty much any Hawk fan I know (via conversation, facebook, texts, media, etc). We're frustrated. Will I/we still root for the Hawks Saturday, and throughout the remainder of the season? Absolutely. Will we still go to Iowa City for the Home games? Dang right, money has been "invested" and the atmosphere is still top notch. Will we still cheer for the team? Damn right. To the end, and with as loud of a shrill whistle as I can muster.

Here's the thing Chosen, BirdsOf and any others that may not want or see the need for change, most fans DO like KF, and have been happy/content with him over his tenure. I am one of the many that feel we have been bettered because of him. Everyone has their personal thoughts, and everyone's timeframe of contentment is different. But guess what? The final word is, this is football, and the goal of football is to win...EVERY WEEK!

It's been stale for awhile (there's a reason Iowa "allowed" KOK to leave 3 years ago), and so far, as far as I can see and hear, what is being presented to us the fans each week has now become beyond questionable, beyond frustrating, and beyond being apathetic...it is continuing a downward trend-line that took many years to build up.

Most fans are and have been patient...but this mess we are witnessing is bringing out the silent majority (rollers and proles both)...and I'm not sure what or who or how it will get resolved, but I can assure you, something "different" has to be done, rather than to expect us to support the continuation of what we've seen become mediocre (at best) football.

There is zero logic let alone evidence to suggest the opinion of KF on the message boards is any different than the overall opinion of him.

The boards are a totally random cross section of the fan base.

I've followed Hawkeye football for over forty-five years and the above post sums up pretty much how I feel about the current situation. I supported KF his first two years when many wanted to throw him overboard and all be heard was Stoops, Stoops, Stoops. I calmly supported KF saying that the he would get the line play built up and things would turn around. I felt pretty good about it KF's fourth, fifth, and sixth seasons. However you can't live in the past and the big contract came after those successful seasons. It just seems like a FAT CAT mentality and just punching a clock. The magic seems to be gone and opponents have figured out his system and how to beat him. I am appreciative of the good years he brought to the Iowa program but it just seems like his train has passed and it time for an new coach to come in and bring with them new enthusiasm and a new look. He did well in the past and he was paid well for his achievements but it now time for him to step aside and let someone else give it a try. I am hoping regardless of how the season ends that he will announce his resignation.

Spot On.

He made a comment the other day about not recruiting PA anymore because it was too hard. Fat cat indeed.

Since we have a large athletic budget let's field 2 football teams. The first one is this god forsaken product which plays our non play makers and coached by KF. The OP can show up with his pom-poms and cheer because outcomes and results do not matter. They can be called the Iowa Excuseyes.

Then the second team will consist of our actual play makers who never see the field or when they do never touch the ball. It will be coached by someone who is not afraid of his own shadow.

I just don't get this board.

Leading up to the Iowa State game, there were literally hundreds of posts talking about dumb Iowa State fans, how the game is Iowa State's "super bowl", and other comments downplaying the game and its importance, obviously ignoring the fact that Iowa State REALLY SHOULD HAVE beaten a very good Kansas State team the previous Saturday (which I would respectfully point out is a better team than Iowa right now and probably one of the best teams in the country, as evidenced by their near miss against Auburn).

After the loss to an obviously improved Iowa State team, this board turns into a dumpster fire. Everything from fire Ferentz to fire Barta. Boycott the games. Don't buy season tickets, etc. etc. After reading many of the posts, you would conclude that it was the biggest upset ever over the Hawks and one of the worst losses in Iowa history.

Iowa State has some talent, folks. They are gonna surprise some people. They are not a bad team. Sorry, but they are not.

Yes, it was a tough loss. Yes, we probably should have won the game. But jeez, it is only one loss. This team will improve. There is talent on the team. Ferentz has the respect of the players and is a good coach. The defense is playing well.

People need to calm down. There are 9 games to go.
OP,so much fail in your post.. The melt down isn't about that one game loss. If you haven't been paying attention. KF has made a regular habit of losing to inferior opponents. His offensive scheme blows cookies. All his answer is execution..execution of a scheme that is failing. There is no excuse for the poor play when you have all the returning players Iowa has on offense. Playing Weisman at RB is stupid when he is a FB..Play him at FB. Play your playmakers. And give CJ a shot to move this team. I have been patient with KF ,but its really time for a change. KF expects his offense to execute perfectly for long time consuming drives that end in failure due to lack of execution because the defense knows what to expect. Ironically our defense is based on playing it safe and making the other team execute long drives in the hope they don't execute..

Good post ,but we know KF will not resign because he is working on his master plan of getting Brian the HC job when he is good and ready to retire. We could finish 4- 8 and KF will be convinced that the season boiled down to lack of execution. And they work on it in the off season secure in his comfy soft ultra plush contract that keeps him here no matter what for 3 more seasons.

That's not what he said and you know it.

Halfway down.

No, what he said was worse - that it is tough to recruit out of Western PA and that they never seem to win any of those battles so there are better ways to spend their time. Remember that this was said during the worst overall combined period for OSU, Mich, and Penn St. in history. A time when Penn St. was under probation.

In other words, he said that he can't recruit his home town, so he's not even going to try.

In Davis' s defense, he tried to do that. Kirk put a stop to it last week.

I'm not buying that argument. I think GD puts the game plan in...and they thought the could consistently run on ISU...44 runs, 24 passes. It was a failure. I'm not even blaming the O-line as I think our backs missed huge opportunities in this game to get the ball upfield via cut backs and simple cuts to the seams. Put Canzeri in there and give him most of the touches or Weisman, this RB by committee has to stop. Losing the freshman, Markel Smith killed us...he looked like the real deal and with those numbers in HS, you know he's special.

Davis was also calling the plays and that may have been the worst game I've seen. I get having Rudock under center because it is more run first, but he looked out of sync with a 7 step drop from under center, like he wasn't comfortable with what he was seeing and the timing of what he was supposed to do. 90 of the throws in those first two game were in the shotgun...then you do that against ISU. Stupid...Rudock looked like JVB in 2012.

In these 2 weeks Iowa was pushed around and should have lost to a MAC Team (Ball State) and then turn around and lose to the worst team in the Big 12. Now you want to come and attack the HN Message board posters? Really? This is much larger than just the HN Board OP what your complaining about is happening in the media, other message boards, Jon Miller and many other news outlets in the midwest, so are you saying it's not justified? It is very warranted unless your eyes are close or you have blind loyalty to KF..

In all my years of posting on HN this thread is easily one of the worst ever.
