O major offers from BCS schools, and one overral offer from arguably The worst FBS school in America, he did not sign anywhere on signing day, and is looking at a potential walk-on opportunity 1000 miles from his home.

I'm not sure what your definition of "marginal" is, but mine has certainly been met.

If that's your assessment, that's fine...let me rephrase the question so you're not offended and thinking I'm coming after you...how'd the guy get 3 stars if he's a marginal talent?

Ummmmmmmmmmmm....because "stars" are a completely worthless concept.

Seriously, you had to ask?

You might as well question why the Iowa coaches do not automatically offer every kid in the country with 3 stars and a clean prison record.

Simple: we're not in the SEC.

Seriously, just because he was overlooked doesn't mean he's no good. Jovon Johnson had only one other offer (Kent State), and he was a 4-year starter here. Marcus Paschal, Miguel Merrick? No other offers, 2/3-year starters. Klink and Humpal? 2 offers between them, both from Iowa. Brandon Myers? Only other offer was from UNI, and he's in the NFL now.

The coaches see something there. I think they've proven more than enough over the years to have earned the benefit of the doubt when it comes to this.
 
I didn't say I wouldn't want him at Iowa, just that it is ridiculous that some are viewing him as a can't-miss-prospect because he has a few snowflakes next to his name.

Iowa hasn't even offered him a scholarship. Even they are concerned with his ability to play at this level, and they have taken their chances with more than a few obscure players over the years.

I certainly don't see him as a "can't miss" guy. As far as I'm concerned, there's no such thing (I'm sure we'll be just fine without Kouandjio).

But even without a scholarship, this kid could become a big contributor. Dallas Clark was a walk-on, too.

I actually agree that stars don't mean as much as some like to make them out to...chill out, d-bag.

Don't forget Bob "Mother F*ckin'" Sanders, tm! I believe he only had one other offer as well and Kirk took notice of him on the advice of an old family friend...if memory serves me correctly the guy told Kirk "you're offering this kid a scholarship!" even though Kirk had never heard of the kid.

Paschal and Merrick both had other offers. You are wrong here.
 
Im not understanding the reason for not wanting this kid. Its a walk-on, not an unproven kid whos getting a schollie. Hes coming out of his own pocket so let him do it.
