There is a CHANCE of an in game chat tonight

With me doing a radio show until two hours before the game, in South Beach, and having to break down the equipment and pack it up in a far too small box to transport back to Iowa, take it back to the hotel, then get a cab to go out to the game, I might not be able to make it to the stadium in time for the start of the game...so I may just watch it in the hotel and host a chat, and be able to write more right after the game..that and I am feeling less than 100%.

I will let you all know around 6pm Iowa time....I am leaning towards thinking that is what's going to happen.

For those that didnt take part in the chats this fall, we had upwards of 1300 people in there for the final four or five games of the year...they are moderated chats, so not all comments are posted, but some are and its instant analysis all the way.

come on, seriously, you'd better have a better excuse than that to stay at the hotel, that is super lame

I know you feel an obligation to us all but consider doing something for
yourself....Orange Bowls don't come around that often!

Is there another way to get that equipment back to the hotel??

No, I am the option to get it back to the hotel. Just no way around that. And its pricey stuff. It's not the end of the world if that is what goes down. I would probably go bat crazy being stuck in cab trying to get to the game as the clock ticks closer and closer to kickoff..I am sort of wired that way..if I am just on time for something, I feel late and get in a pretty pissy mood...a character flaw

My favorite thing about being at a bowl game is hearing the fans erupt the first time the team comes onto the field...to feel that rush is awesome. Little chance I will be able to make it there for that. It's not the end of the world.

I understand going crazy at the possibility of missing the first few minutes, I know I would. But I know with 100% certainty that I'd regret not being at the Orange Bowl when I am in Miami with tickets.

you are there, in Florida, you are a cab ride away from the stadium, and yet you are seriously contemplating just sitting in the hotel room? can't you see the lameness there? it's obvious to me ... even if you don't get there until half-time, it's still worth it to go ... it's not like you're not DVRing the game, and couldn't catch-up later on any small part you might miss while you are en-route

I've never been able to swing a bowl trip in my life, and you are going to skip it in favor of a hotel room TV ... it makes ME feel sick just thinking about it

we are wired differently in yet another way, as I often arrive at Kinnick right at kickoff ...I like to find my seat while the team is entering, everyone is already standing

since I've never been to a bowl game, I can't speak to the difference between the intro there vs at Kinnick, but again, this is what DVRs are for if you are 5-10 minutes late

Super Courier Service

Elegant Transfer

And Many More

Now if you're just cheap thats another thing! :D But you're already paying
for a cab!

He's been working for several days and isn't feeling well. Chill out.

no way ... seriously, I would regret it if I were him ... just trying to give some perspective ... I would start regretting it the second the game started and if it turned out to be a good (or heaven forbid, a great) game, then it would eat at me for a long time

caveat: Jon, if you are really under the weather, please go get checked out by a Doc, HN couldn't stand to lose ya

there, warm fuzzies, happy hobo?

I hope not to anger anyone, but John WHy in the world are you doing the radio show all the way down in South Beach. Why can't you do it closer to the stadium.

ALSO next time you can hire me to cart the stuff around. Put me on payroll and my pay would be flight, hotel and game tix. I guarantee you that I would go to the game even if it meant to miss the entire first half. I was there last time and thought the atmosphere was electric.

I can see why he doesn't feel like going with all the stuff he has going on and not feeling the greatest.

HOWEVER my question: if there is a Stanzi to DJK or McNutt to win the game in the last seconds or a last minute D stand to win the game how the hell are you going to be able to know that you could have been there to see it? They way this year has gone, there is no way in hell I would be able to do that.

Jon---hope that you are starting to feel better. Please, if there is a way to get yourself to the game, don't miss it just to run the chat.
Thanks for all of the updates that you and others have given leading up to the Orange Bowl game.

I don't recall the memo where I had to run anything by you bws ;)

just stopped off in an alley on way to radio show and dry heaved. Gonna be a fun four hours. Feeling the sun now helps a bit as we are on top deck of clevelander

If I feel up to it I will go. If not I'll work from the hotel room.

To clarify, I am not choosing the chat over going to the game. It's about feeling crappy combined with the logistics after the show. I appreciate some of the sentiments but it will be what it will be.

Jon - go to the game or watch it on a nice TV wherever you can. Don't worry about the chat. It'll be 8 months until the next Hawkeye game meaning we'll have forever to chat about online or over the phone. Savor the last game of the season and worry about your health and any ulcers the game may or may not give you.

Believe me, we'll keep your message board and chats busy over the coming months until next season so not having a chat tonight because you're enjoying the game will be no big thang.
