The way to beat Wisky

Slow it down, play clean defense, go 3-2 zone all the way, and be damn ready to body up Kaminsky as soon as he gets in the lane. Michigan came darned close to doing that today, and The Vulture was lucky to come out with a win against a team with far less talent and only average shooting.

shoot better than 30%? This has been the worst shooting team i can remember. right now, we are not good enough shooting to beat any decent/ and some not so decent teams. I get that we are 4-3 in league, but if the shooting stays as is, we will be happy for the NIT.

Fran’s had moderate success against Wisky because fast tempo and transition tends to get them out of rhythm. Taking quick shots is bad, but transition dunks at Carver is bad for a team that wants to limit possessions and bleed the shot clock.

Play big - twin towers, Uhl & White with Clemmons hawking the ball until he fouls out. Have all the bigs paint their fingertips black & yellow...a statement. If Iowa could make close to 50% of their shots, they could compete. Shoot 35% and it will be bloody again.

There might be a way to beat Wisky. To ask the Hawks to execute it successfully, let alone hit the necessary shots, is folly.

Let's get this out of the way, right now. White might play. Everyone else is going to get eaten alive by their Wisky counterpart. Vadges 73, Hawks 52.

Hawks just began a 4 game slide. I'm hopeful they can break out of it vs Minny and somehow finish 9-9 or 10-8 to get back on the bubble. If Minny gets 'em at home, they're at 8-10 and out of the NCAA, hoping to get a home-court seed in the NIT.

Step one: have different players
Step two: play gooder basketball with those players
Step three: .......
Step four: profit

As Lute Olson said back in the day of Purdue's Joe Barry Carroll, get them in a running game and make the 7 footer play between the free throw lines. If you can get Wisky out of set offenses with turnovers and trapping them or however and get Hayes and Kaminsky running the floor continually then you can win.

It would help to shoot better than 30% like the hawks have the last two games.

I also believe that you have to be more aggressive on both sides of the court....I want to see them attack the rim, unfortunately we always seem to be a half step too slow, or we beat the guy to the paint/baseline, and we stop b/c of the big bad 7 ftr in our way.....I saw Gesell/Jok/Sapp several times get to the paint and stop yesterday....no pump fake, no dish....Wisconsin has flaws like everyone else.....just need to find them and expose them....Problem is they are a solid team that are fundamentally sound.....I just wish Iowa was a little like that at times....Under control, run their sets.....Iowa needs to get some of those guys in foul trouble, then we might have a chance....

This is a terrible idea. Why? Wisconsin is an EXCELLENT shooting team. Even their bigs can shoot. This is why Wisconsin very rarely faces a zone and that's why Bo Ryan teams are 13-2 against John Beilein

Iowa's shooting percentage of 41.6% is almost 2 points higher than their opponents' percentage of 39.8%.
