THE University of Iowa wins one for the gimper game thread

Here’s a crazy thought. Do we consider keeping the two big starting lineup and bringing Fredrick off the bench? I think it would make some sense

I think depends on the matchup. This was an obvious one tonight because of the lack of bugs that OSU had. But I do like it for the fact of keeping Luka out of foul trouble. Kriener did a great job on Wesson and that was huge.

Iowa was dominated on the offensive glass again tonight. OSU had 14 to Iowa's 5. Iowa can get away with that with the home crowd cheering them on, but on the road that is a killer. Iowa did shoot 55% tonight, which certainly helped.

Having Cordell back to form is Huge

He is a very nice passer, getting the ball inside to Luka and Ryan

When he and Luka are in at the same time, that will open things up on the perimeter

For JoeW and Freddy

Cordell has quick, tricky moves inside, he is deceptively quick

Another Huge development is JoeT and Bakari starting to become scoring threats

I do believe we have become a much more dangerous team

Toussaint has hit his last 3 3pt shots

Wow. Things are going pretty well. I don’t worry about Wieskamp getting it going, and we know what Fredrick can do. If the guys not named Garza keep it up Iowa is going to be a tough tough out.

I agree, we have to do a better job rebounding, but, so many of these offensive rebounds we are giving up are on threes, especially long threes, where it is much more difficult to get a bead on where the ball is going to bounce. You are right though, those things will kill us.

As long as CP is healthy and behaving, it's not a bad idea. Or frankly, go with the 2-bigs line-up and bring Joe T off the bench. Let him be the high-motor spark when starters are "low-energy".

I thought Joe T’s energy on the defensive end in the first 5 minutes of this game was amazing. Set the tone for the game.

Preach, Brother Seth! Preach!

it is a weakness. Our defensive rebounding almost lost us the game against Minnesota in the first half. We played a lot more man tonight which I thought had shored things up- surprised to hear the margin was still that bad.
Kriener and Pemsl often watch the ball rather than find a body.
JW is an excellent rebounder.

This years Iowa's team is just so much more physical than past teams. In years past teams knew they could just come and play physical and Iowa would fold. This team is just the opposite, they dish it out just as much themselves.
It’s almost like our staff is adjusting and coaching it. Weird I know

We've used it to our advantage all year. Teams can't prepare for it until the see it for themselves. By that time it is usually too late, especially in close games. The mental toughness aspect is there as well.

I think the stripes are even starting to respect us. No way does Garza, or any other Hawkeye, get that call in previous years when Wesson is forcing him out of bounds under the basket.
