I don't understand why that wasn't called a blocking foul? The clown was not set and impeded Clemmons motion.....?

Should have been a blocking call.....or a charge. Either way that much contact should never be called "traveling". He got knocked down, he didn't travel.

What's really impressive is that was only his 3rd turnover in the last 5 games while racking up 24 assistsfor an 8/1 assist to turnover ratio. From a freshman. Pg play has improved so much from last year.

In a way, it was traveling rather than take a chance on Clemmons getting another foul. He might have had three at the time and fouled out of another game. Better than taking a chance of the refs calling it our way. Clemmons will correct his foul collecting quickly, I am certain.....
What a pleasure it is to have him and Mike G working together. Mike gets a rebound and knows exactly where Clemmons is and tosses him the ball immediately, then runs down the court......

In the end, we got the W and that's all the matters. Fwiw, I agree with Jack... The two freshman point guards are playing together well!
The announcers explained it as he's lucky it wasn't a charge because in the college game a defensive player does not have to give the offensive player room to move/come down. As soon as he catches the ball, he can step in front of him. In reality, he just stood there and Clemmons ran into him because he didn't see him. He is lucky it wasn't a charge. Although the inbounder needs to be aware of a defensive player back there and not throw the ball right to where the defender is. In addition, Clemmons needs to be aware of any defenders still in the area. He's a freshman so he'll learn.

I think it was a mistake. Basketball is an extremely difficult game to ref and they make mistakes sometimes.

I was wondering if anyone had an explanation or knew a rule that made that a travel as I couldn't see how it wasn't a foul on someone.

College refs are old and suck.
No rulet. The replay I saw looked like he did take a step before running into iSU guy. My guess is it would have been called a charging foul but ref saw a travel first.

It's a travel in the ref's eyes, because ISU wins because they get the ball and because Iowa wins because it's not a foul. It's the Ed Hightower rule.
Also, when contact was made, Clemmons lost the ball before he had the chance to travel, so it definitely was not a travel.

Hah, fortunately I don't live there anymore, but the screen name lives on.
I haven't seen a replay since the game, but I'm not sure how people can say Lucious wasn't set. He was just standing there and Clemmons ran into him because he didn't see him. Simple as that. But as others have noted, time to move on.
