If you're Lick and Barta decides that he's not cutting you loose, how do you stay? Even if you're retained, you can't have much credibility in the recruiting arena. The players that stay can't be comfortable in that environment. You are still a big man and a point guard away from at least being competitive, how do you over come that?
I think that the dye is cast and Lick is gone. I think that the buyout is either being negotiated or has already been negotiated. The only thing that is left is to find out who is Lick's replacement. Pearl seems like a reach to me. However, money seems to speak a lot louder than works, so maybe Barta's got a cache of cash somewhere and can get some wheeling and dealing done.
I know that the money that Pearl would command is huge. However, you can put a pencil to it and justify some large dollars. As someone pointed out 10,000 season tickets at $30 per game, is about $5M per yr.
