The thing that was missing, to get this team over the hump the past few years were outside shooters.

A lot of people agreed with me... some thought it was ... meh.

It's pretty clear to see the huge difference in our team right now because we have so many guys that will let if fly with confidence.

I agreed. We were right. Let's also point out that we aren't screwed only having one true center. I never understood why so many people were so nervous about this. We have played tons of teams over the years with one or zero true centers. That Fran guy can coach! His players do a better job of trusting the game plan when things get tough this year as well. In years past we would get a lead thanks to a great game plan. The other team would make a run and guys would give up on the plan when things got rough. To me these are the two biggest reasons for this years success so far.

Yeah this team is less post orientated... but way better

Best shooting Iowa team I have seen in a long, long time. I remember that previous coach that liked to have his teams jack 3's, but the problem was that he didn't recruit players that could actually shoot.

Also love the poise this team plays with. Michigan made a couple serious runs, but the team didn't rattle at all. Many other teams from years past would've folded. Not this bunch. Guess that's what senior leadership & good coaching buys you.

yeah lick liked three's... but he also like to play 50-45 basketball games and he recruited NAIA players.

Shooting so well from 3 its just spreading the D and opening up so much. Think back to how many times the last 5 years you could say "man if we had just shot even average from 3 pt range we would have one".
We had so many games we shot like 3-18 from 3pt land it just killed us.

Yep, hard to guard 4 guys who have the potential to hit the 3.

Agreed! It's fun to watch right now, Iowa is a mighty dangerous perimeter team! If Iowa is shooting well they can beat any team in the country!!

Yes, but the key to this Iowa team is that if a player or two are not, they have the plug-n-play depth to pick the team up. Iowa is a horrible match-up secondary to the length and plug-n-play players that can shoot and play multiple positions.

This really helps Iowa play different styles of teams. Iowa can match up with a perimeter team or they can match up with a team like Purdue. Iowa is not a quick out secondary to match-up problems. Good formula.
