The Search: Saturday Scuttlebut

It is highly unlikely Jamie Dixon is coming to Iowa. Originally from the west coast, if he goes from Pitt, more likley to a top 10 school or west coast were he is from. He did express interest in Arizona job before. His contract runs through 2016. There are good candidates out there, but Iowa has some issues beyond what money can solve for someone in Dixon's class.

Does anyone know if / what the buyout on Drew's contract is? I really like the idea of him getting the job based on what he has done at Baylor. I have always thought Dixon or Wright (who apparently isn't on the radar anymore) were long shots. I think Drew is a real possibility the way it sounds and I would be excited with Forbes too. All being said though....I think it's still pretty early. Like JM said, depending on what happens this weekend will dictate some action or put it on back burner. Exciting though.

Dixon or Drew would be dynamite! Solid locks to turn things around and take IA to top 15 -20 program. Hope one of them is "the One".

Jon: I see that the Oregon A.D. is stepping down on April 5th. Do they have someone already in place to take over. In other words who is actually going to make their hire ?

I talked to an Oregon fan last night and asked about that, he said Nike would be looking for candidates like we have Parker searching for Iowa and that a former AD would be the guy to actually head the interview process with others from the university? Not sure how legit it is, but seems plausible.

You are correct in what I have read. Chicago paper said DePaul is waving $2 mil a year his way. While out in Oregon he is on their radar too and with Nike money Iowa will not have a chance.
