The Seahawks last offensive play call.........

And yet it was the Seattle defense that gave up a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter and no one is talking about that.

That's because everyone already knows that Brady is really good. You give Lynch the ball 3 times from the 1 and you score 99% of the time.

Seahawks had 25 seconds left and one timeout. If they didn't score on the first two runs, the clock would run out. That said, I still think Lynch punches it in on the very next play. If Lynch decides he's getting 1 yard, he's getting 1 yard. Wilson also could of run the zone read to the left and had 1 guy to beat in a race to the goal line and being 1 yard out Wilson could of walked in.

Since they still had a time out, they could have run it and still stopped the clock as needed.

After getting a 10 point lead and the ball back from the defense, the Seattle offense went punt, punt, punt, int. Not a great way to protect a lead.

There was 25 seconds left because they ran the play clock all the way down after 1st down. They had all the time in the world to run 4 plays.

It is so good to see him taking flak now. Karma is catching up with him after the 2003 orange bowl garbage. After that he deserves some big losses.

I was screaming at the tv when they lined up in shotgun for that final play. Completely unforgivable...really glad I'm not a Seahawks fan.

If you just HAD to pass the ball there for whatever stupid reason, do it off a play fake to Lynch while giving Wilson the option to run it into the endzone for a touchdown. To lineup shotgun/spread there was simply dumb

First, I didn't agree with the call, but I don't think it was as bad as some sportswriter geniuses think.

Two options:

2nd down: run (Patriots "know" it's coming)
Timeout Seattle
3rd down: pass (Patriots know it's coming)
4th down: run or pass (Patriots guessing)

2nd down: pass (Patriots don't see it coming (other than DB's, who are playing pass first))
Still have timeout if incomplete
3rd down: run or pass (Patriots guessing)
4th down: run or pass (Patriots guessing)

If the coaching staff is thinking of a 3 play series (after 1st down), it makes sense (I still don't agree with it, but they know more than me). Either way, you get a maximum of 2 runs.

I, nor anyone else, know what would have happened on a 2nd down run. A run blitz could have caught them in the backfield. An incomplete pass on 2nd down makes the Pats play a little more safe, because of the run/pass/option/roll out possibilities, making it a much easier score.

Again, I don't agree with the play call, because I think you have to do what you do best (led league in rushing), but having coached FB for ~20 years (and baseball and basketball), I tend to give the coaches more of a pass than most.

This was my play call before it started. I think they went with something quick to try to keep the defense from being able to adjust/flow. Obviously backfired on them.

When they lined up in the gun, I assumed it was a read option-give to try to keep the playside end from caving in his side.

Interesting that not a soul is laying any blame on Russell Wilson. If Tom Brady threw a pick there, we'd never hear the end of it.

The fact they came up with that call after using a timeout is what irks me. It was just stupid. You have the best short yardage back in the game. You have a tired worn out NE defense on their heels at the 1 yard line. They just outsmarted themselves period. Give the corner credit he did his homework and pretty much knew that based on that formation that if they did pass that was what they were going to do. He jumped it and that's that. I'm glad I'm not a Seattle fan or had any money on them or I'd be sooo ******. If I'm coaching that team either as the OC or Carroll I'm not getting cute. I'm going to win or lose with Lynch at the goal line bottom line. If they can stop you 2 or 3 times then you tip your cap to em. But good lord I don't do that.

I assumed they were going to Matthews, given his obvious height advantage.

Then again, it was the luckiest of luck plays (admittedly a great catch by Kearse, but still lucky as heck) that got them there in the first place.

I guess I just don't get throwing into traffic at that point. Throwing to an isolated receiver minimizes risk as much as possible. But, assuming Lynch will score/not fumble/no false start/etc. is all in the mix.

I hate those pick plays disguised as "rubs", anyway. "Top" teams never get called for Offensive PI, only middle- and lower-tier teams do.

Right. I was saying they couldn't of run it 3 times. 2 max.

I think they actually could have, although it would have been a little tight.

2nd down run.
Hurry-up 3rd down run. Time out.
4th down run.

I think you could have gotten all that in there if you didn't score on 2nd or 3rd down. I think the Seahawks overthought it.

Bevell used to do that crap when he was with the Vikings. AP would be rolling and he'd suddenly go away from the run especially inside the 10. I never liked him as a OC.

Top teams also don't get called for defensive holding either (not on the intended receiver).
