The pleasure of listening to Lute, Ralph Miller and Mr. Davis postgames

After playing youth and jr high basketball and some sophomore Bball (non-starter) before an injury and mostly because of lack of height and talent ended my "career" I like lots of guys played tons of pickup and league ball.

But I really learned a lot about the game listening to three Iowa coaches over the years. Ralph Miller's postgames were scratchy throated dissertations on offensive basketball as ballet. Lute was the most technical and I learned a ton about defenses and how big guys should attack their defender and how to get the ball movement, penetration and kick action. Then with Mr. Davis, who most know was an educator type, and being in the shot clock era I was able to get a lot more great basketball knowledge.

Lute was the first coach I heard really going over the stats at games end especially rebounds, 2nd chance points and turnovers. I think Lute, like what I heard John Wooden say, really valued the ball and each possession.

That is all, I didnt listen much to a few other coaches. I like to listen to Fran.
