The players think it's all their fault

I never thought Id see the day where we had a meltdown over a 13-3 loss AT Penn State. Its a tough place to play, recent history not withstanding.

It's because KF has built a program where we expect to beat PSU, even at their stadium, and we do. We expect to beat Michigan as well. And now we call for his head when we don't. It's a joke

+1000

Not to mention our first 3 plays of the second half were passes - but we "need to open it up more"??? The problem was execution, period.

AND... even if our players do execute very well, maybe we just dont have the same players we have had in recent year. But intstead of people being rational, all we hear is "fire, too conservative, game management, etc." Were they bad coaches when we beat GT? Beat South Carolina? Beat LSU? Beat Florida? Played USC in the Orange Bowl? No. We cannot be a top 10 team every year. There are very very few teams that can. These same coaches that are sooo bad, took us to many good years, many big wins. Step back people, use the noggins.

If KF is so dogmatic and obsessed with run/pass balance, why did he let KOK call 18 runs to 40+ passes?

We also blitzed the crap out of PSU (pass and run blitz), which is something the fans have been begging for, and it had limited success, mostly because we still couldn't get to their QB.

Yes, all these HN haters look at the facts, these coaches are trying, the players are trying, we just are not that good this year, and we had a bad game on top of it. We tried to pass, we tried to blitze.

PSU is a top 10 defensive football team. Their offense had 5 tipped passes that were caught...one of them richotched off the umpires shoe. Luck was in their corner this game...pure and simple. I look for the Hawks to win the next 4 games and be right back in the hunt for the title. Nebraska would have 2 losses right now if the QB for OSU hadn't got hurt. I for one look for the hawks to put a beat down on Northwestern this Saturday and I will be there to witness it.

I wish I could be as optimistic as you are but until Iowa plays an entire 4 quarters with enthusiasm and passion I just don't see it. This team has not played a good Big 10 game since they beat Mich St last year. Ever since that game they have been on a down hill slide and for whatever reason are really struggling to turn things around.

Well, they might as well blame themselves. After all, the coaches will just point to execution, which is a nice way of blaming the players and not themselves for not having their team prepared (especially after a bye week).
