The only conceivable reason we haven't and won't see Rudock at QB...

The staff must believe that Sokol will be better suited to run the offense next season and don't want to give Rudock the advantage of playing time, going into the qb battle next spring. There is literally no other plausible reason for holding Rudock out during garbage time at the end of these games.

If Kirk puts JR in and he leads Iowa to a TD drive, even in garbage time, it would set off a firestorm that he has never seen.

If Jake even played average/slightly below average he would bury any performance we've seen from JVB.

The media would run with it, fans would be going crazy, more so than they are now. No way Kirk is going to take that chance.

I've voiced a similar opinion a few weeks ago but I now believe there's more to it. I think the staff may have all but decided that Rudock is probably not going to be the start next season and want to ensure that the QB battle next spring has an even start for all contenders.

I believe this is the reason as well. Nothing else makes sense. He might be a great game player, and KF doesn't want to have to answer questions about why he didn't play earlier. Purely selfish on KF part.

I surely hope there is not something seriously wrong with Jake Rudock.
I think that would have been leaked by now.

Even Lil Lickliter got garbage time.

Cmon guys......is 4 minutes or 1 series of plays really gonna give JR any advantage??

Sokol has 2 years of JC experience on Rudock. Is that fair?

He got more than just garbage time.

You all want to talk about QB, but you must leave the room and eat some ding-dongs after our offense leaves the field. I once again watched the defense stink it up.

1. gave up over 500 yrds.
2. over 13 yrds. per catch
3. over 5 yrds. per rush
4. 9-12 on 3rd down
5. 2-2 on 4th down

Talk all about QBs for next season, but if we don't overhaul our defense then we will see more of the same. Don't give me the crap about "Michigan had the ball more than Iowa because of the offense". Bullcrap, TOP was almost even. Don't tell me we have injuries or any other excuse. Keep complaining about JVB, but I know he is in a bad system with a weak defense. The truth hurts.

If there's a good reason, I can't fathom it. I thought it was stupid after the PSU game. After this one, someone's going to have to give me a good reason not to give JR some mop up time. If not the decision is pure stubborness

My take on it is that since KF fees JVB is the guy that gives us the best chance to win, he's leaving him in during garbage time to get reps/confidence. He led drives late in the PSU game and today, both of which ended in TD's. He also led us to a couple TDs against NW, when the game was out of hand.
I would have thought that we would've seen a backup by now, but this seems to make the most sense to me. I don't buy the "Ruddock getting garbage time gives him an unfair advantage for next spring" arguement.
