Remember when this defense was good?

Someone had a thread a few weeks ago asking if rather have a powerful offense or defense.

Didn't post but I think, this day and age, ya gotta have points. The "defense wins championships" cliche is way overplayed.

It's so much easier to be "competent" on D than it is on offense - with Iowa being the poster boy of ineptitude on O. I'd gladly take an average D that gives up mid 20's / game as long as the O was averaging mid 30's.

Difficult to guage but I suspect if the usual rankings of the D vs the O had been flipped all these years, Iowa would've won a lot more of those close games by simply outscoring.

the boxscore shows the hawks with 200 yards of offense after about 25 minutes of game time but the TD drop and the fumble are two turnovers and a lot of wasted yards.

The hawks have been making the big plays in this series for 7 3/4 of the last 8 games so it has to happen that we have a negative game sometime. It aint over yet but it is close
