The most electric, unforgettable play I've ever seen.

I love that play and at the time it was amazing (he ran into the end zone I was seated in), but I would make this my #3 that I've seen in person. Tate to Holloway "The Catch" in the 2005 Capitol One Bowl is #1 and Murray's kick against PSU in 2008 is #2. this one is close to the other 2 and I could easily see it as #2, but Tate to Holloway was unbelievable. Also, Iowa @ MSU "7 got 6" in 2009 is a close #4, but with so few Iowa fans in the stadium the environment wasn't buzzing like it was at the Orange Bowl.

Side note ... my buddy had just purchased a brand new Orange Bowl T-Shirt at the stadium and had put it on right before kickoff. 10 seconds later, we were soaked in beer from everyone spraying it on each other. So much for a clean new shirt.

I'd have to say that the 2005 Capital One Bowl game has to be a share for number one at the very least. This call by Dolph and Podolak still gives me the chills! One of the greatest calls I've ever heard from the pair. I love when Dolph says Bob Brooks is running down the sideline.

That kickoff was amazing. I Was in the endzone tons of students. Man the beer was spraying everywhere! Certainly one of the top electric moments in hawkeye football.

Unfortunately the context of that play makes it very forgetable for me. Oh well, still an awesome high before 59 minutes of low.

It was hands down the most exciting play I've seen live. I wasn't at the Cap 1, but I was at the '08 PSU game. This was better.

CJ ran right into our endzone so we had the perfect view of the entire thing. Go back and look at Jermelle Lewis' block to spring him at about the 50...thing of beauty. Everyone's right, the game was bust, but that moment was so ridiculous I'll remember it forever.

2002 Purdue - blocked field goal run back by Antwaan Allen, blocked punt by Sean Considine and recovered in the endzone by Jermire Roberts, 95 yd touchdown catch and run by Dallas Clark, and the entire final drive crafted by Banks and ending with a TD pass to Dallas Clark on 4th and 7 with 1:17 left on the clock. That entire game was electric.

Well since you didn't say it had to be football, I was at games 4 and 5 of the 2006 World Series too watch the CARDINALS win there 10th World Series. It was awesome :D

Easily the #1 play I've witnessed in person. I was lucky enough to be there last year for this one, and I'll never forget the feeling of sitting in the middle of the Iowa section when this happened. The whole bleacher section was shaking from everyone jumping up and down and getting so excited. Still gives me goosebumps to this day when I remember sitting there watching it happen. Murray and PSU 2008 is #2 for me.

Yeah, awesome. Too bad the rest of the game happened. Knowing that makes it hard to enjoy that video.

Personally, I don't like the opening kickoff being taken back. It's a bad omen. Actually, to be less superstitious, I think it's TOO big of a play happening TOO early. Think for a second. CJ takes it back in the OB, we lost. Ted Ginn Jr. took it back in the NCG, he got hurt in the celebration and OSU lost. Devin Hester took it back in the Super Bowl, and the Bears lost. It wasn't the opening kick, but PSU scored a big play TD on their first play from scrimmage against us in 2009, and they lost.

Now, what usually happens after plays like this? The place just goes nuts, right? Fans and players all just about lose their minds. I think that a big play like that to start the game tends to get teams to spend all of their emotion on that one play, and it's the worst play to do it. It releases all that emotion at once, rather than throughout the course of the game. Which is why a lot of times the team who does that tends to look flat the rest of the night.

Pick one :D

Quick couple notes on Timmy D.
My folks went to a handful of Iowa games every year, but didn't get season tix until my Dad saw Dwight play a game in person. He still talks about all the amazing things he did on the field that you never saw on tv.

I'll never forget a game as a Charger. One of SD's WR was going down the sidelines and all you saw across the tv screen was Dwight fly by this guy. He ended up throwing a block to get his teammate in the endzone, but you didn't actually see the block until they showed a replay of a different angle. He was a truly gifted athlete...oh, and fast, too!:)
