THE LAST OF CJ IN THE NFL?

So supposedly he injured his wrist in last week's game at Arizona and was being rested tonight but was suited up and ready to play. So a third-string quarterback who went undrafted out of Southern Miss in 2017 and had never thrown a pass during the NFL regular season completes 16 of 22 attempts for 262 yards, three TDs and no INTs as the 49ers crush a really bad Raiders team 34-3. Betting we don't see him on the field the rest of the season.

Either the Raiders have the worst D line in the NFL or the O line of the 49's didn't feel like blocking for CJ against the Cardinals. Tonight they seemed to pick up everything. Feel bad for CJ, but he would have won this game too.

CJ wasn't fully cleared to play. Thus, he got Wally Pipped...

The plays they showed on Sportscenter were basically wide open guys running free down the field and one tough throw to Kittle.

Nah, Raiders are a shit show. There is no probative value to anything done against them. Joe Dirt will get a start again next week and when he implodes against a team with a pulse CJ will be right back in.

I feel like CJ may have already proven his worth to other teams anyway. I think a team might take a flyer on him next season.

He’s already played way more than most backups will in their entire careers. He’ll easily get a shot with another team.

Who knows, maybe he’s the guy that will finally take the Cleveland Brown Stains to the holy land.

Given the circumstances I think Beathard has played really well this season. There are a lot of 2nd/3rd string quarterbacks that can make themselves look good against the Raiders defense right now.

The Raiders are the worst team in the NFL and they are tanking... That Mullens is just lucky that is who he got to play against like that. Good for him. He did make a couple nice window throws. He got lucky as all get out Kittle made the play he did. Holy crap Kittle is good... Like unreal good. He seems to get nicked up out there which is too bad. If he could be 100% more often (tough to do for TEs obviously) he should be looked at as a top 5 top 3 TE... Besides Ertz and Kelce is anyone putting up better #s? Gronk hasn't been this year.

Even if Mullens ends up starting the next game or so CJ isn't going to be totally cut and dropped. I highly doubt we've seen the last of CJ. He has 2 more years on his rookie deal and they aren't paying him much. He's worth more than they are paying him still so that alone will keep him from being cut. My guess is if Mullens does keep doing well assuming he gets next start due to this outing (I doubt that by the way but we'll see) they may look to trade him. There is a danger to looking too good. It was same for CJ if he'd have played really well there'd have been a demand for someone else to get him. Personally I'd prefer if CJ stayed in SF as a backup. Play well enough to have a job but not become that bounce around the league journyman… If I were him I think I'd rather stay with one organization as long as I could but that's just me...

CJ should still remain a viable backup QB in the NFL. That's all he ever was anyway...IMO. He's only a 2nd year player and was thrust into the spotlight due to injuries. Give him a couple more years of seasoning and maybe he can break out and get a ridiculous contract like Sam Bradford or Case Keenum

CJB will be fine.... he could at worst be the next Sage Rosenfels - be on a roster for 8-10 yrs, put a few $Million in the bank and not be crippled/hobbled for all years after. Derek Anderson - 14th yr, has played in 25 games last 8 yrs - good life.

Um have you watched the 49ers? If I didn't know any better I'd think they were trying to get him killed. He's getting hit harder and more often than he did here.

That's great in theory but between how bad the 9ers Oline has been and just how CJ plays the game if he's in there he's gonna get beat up... The only way he's not is if he is holding the clip board and not playing like Anderson did or like that backup for the Bears now who was in NO backing up Brees forever. He's made great money pretty much only playing in pre season. To me that'd be the cats meow of a gig.
