CJ gave us a better chance to win last year because we had almost no chance at big plays with Weisman at runningback and Rudock at quarterback. Our offense proved time and again that we couldn't score with 12-15 play drives so we needed CJ to hit the occasional big play. I haven't seen their stats so i don't know where he was better at but i can't imagine Rudock's were that much better. I'm pretty sure if Jake would have attempted some passes downfield it would have lowered his completion percentage though.

Quarterback was also the most easily fixable problem too. We couldn't just out of nowhere have better coaches or a better defense.

Less golden, more light blond. One thing is clear, CJ is at Iowa, Jake is not. Both made choices. As they're allowed. In keeping with a quarterback analogy, at one point I thought of Jake's move to Michigan as a Hail Mary, but considering what Drew Ott said yesterday about thinking that Jake had more "fight" in him, I see his move to Michigan to be more of a safe, check down throw.

I like Jake. I was glad when he kept his commitment when Florida and Miami approached late. I thought he was a decent QB. I didn't like the way he "lost" the job.
I like CJB. I think he will be good. I didn't like the way The Interview came off, but I liked his parting comments that he liked Jake and they were friends, and he wishes him well.
I don't think it's fair to CJB to heap pressure on him, because I think he will be handcuffed by our offense.
On the plus, though, we can go 5-7 this coming season and it really isn't on him. If we go 8-4 (or better, though I don't think it will happen), he certainly deserves some of the credit. The good news for CJB: if we go 5-7, it's on the coaches. If we go 8-4/better, CJ gets the credit.
Basically, the only person who can't "win", regardless, is KF. 5-7, he's bad, 8-4, CJ bailed him out.

I don't think he has to be that much better, just have a credible threat of going deep and get that extra safety out of the box. A good run for us last year was 5 yards, love Mark Weisman, but he didn't make anybody at the second level miss. If those 5 yard runs turn into 8-12 yards or the occassional housed run because the safety is not playing 5 yards from the line of scrimmage then our offense will be miles better than it was.

Absolutely agree, PC. In fact I made that point several times last fall. I'll take it one step further, QB was the only position that could have been fixed, but wasn't. I just don't feel kfootball would have EVER benched MW.
If kfootball had made the switch last season, we still might have Willies on our team. Conjecture, there, but they were reported to be best buds.
