The Gator Bowl is now set

Ohio State v Florida

I must conceded that the Big10 gets two teams in the BCS. Michigan and the winner of the Wisky v MSU game.

The loser of that game will play in the Cap One bowl.

BCS - Michigan
BCS - MSU or Wisky
CapOne - MSU or Wisky
Outback - Nebraska
Gator - Ohio State*
Insight - Penn State*
Meineke Car Care - Iowa*
Ticket City - Purdue
Little Caesars - NW

*OSU will play Florida in the Gator bowl now that Meyer is the new head coach of OSU. I think Iowa might have had a shot at this game had the head coaching position been in limbo another week but not now.

*PSU gets the nod over Iowa to the Insight for two reasons - they have a much better record and Iowa was at the Insight last year.

*Iowa gets to travel to Houston for a New Years eve bowl game and will play either Texas or Texas A&M.

Not so fast my friend. I still think tOSU is going to impose a bowl ban on itself this year or the NCAA is going to do it for them. There is no way the NCAA can force USC to sit two post seasons yet let tOSU go to bowl games.

Agree with Chase- he beat me to it. If Michigan goes BCS and MSU loses the title game, they'll be Outback bound.

The Insight Bowl picks after the Outback this year. So the Insight, given the choice between Ohio St, Penn St or Iowa, may pick Ohio State to capitalize on the Urban Meyer buzz.

Also it's possible they could have a Texas vs Ohio State matchup, and a bowl like the Insight may never again have the chance to host a game between two historically marquee teams again.

That leaves the Gator to pick between either Penn State or Iowa to play Florida (most likely SEC pick). While I don't think Iowa deserves to be picked over PSU, you could see why a bowl (and their sponsors) would take a less controversial Iowa.

Cap One already basically said the loser of the championship game is coming to Orlando.

Where are you getting this? I'm a little skeptical of that information. The Cap One bowl works a little differently; FCS membership votes on the teams that will attend. Plus, one of the topics that always comes up in that discussion is how well the loser of the championship game will travel when it was about the ACC for the Champs Sports Bowl.

Exactly. They had two juggernauts in the game two years ago and it went down to the wire in the most exciting game in bowl history. Still couldn't believe at the time that anyone could outcoach Brewster.

I could see this scenario.
We all have our "theories" on PSU, it will be interesting to see who takes them.

There is actually a less than 0% chance that MSU goes to Orlando. They have played a bowl game in that stadium in 3 of the last 4 season.

Iowa will pass PSU and be selected for the Insight.

I'm not sure which one but I read it in somebody's prediction article that Cap One was taking the loser of the B1G championship game.

I also don't feel that the Gator would take Iowa over PSU. They are absolutely enamored with brand name teams. Michigan last year, now Ohio State. If PSU is on the board for them, they would almost certainly get chosen.

Not saying they won't be picked, but I don't see the Cap One passes up having a shot at Nebraska for MSU after losing the championship game.

Let's hope not, at least not this year. I hope to god they don't get to scab out with their 6-6 season. I hope to god they get to play a crappy bowl than they get two seasons of post bowl ban play! If it happens as I envision, even with Urban they will still take a hit in recruiting.

They won't take a hit in recruiting but Iowa will likely play in one slot higher in bowls for the next two years. I, like you, don't want them to impose the ban this year. An interim head coach with all of the off field distractions and they still finish with 6 wins.

No way they are going to do that. If they were they would have said something about it by now with the selections being 6 days away.
