The elephant in the room

Hear a fair question. Brain goes 10-2 falls short of the 25 point average, but we win the WEST but once again get clobbered in the B1G championship.

Each one of you is the AD. YOU MAKE THE CALL.!!!

I'd invite him into my office and ask him what plan he has to improve the offense. If he stated back my "I'm going to have 4 of the 10 best tight ends in America and put a bunch of them on the field every play" I would slide a contract extension over to him for signature. Any other answer and I would toy with him to make think he's gonna get fired and then later keep him and then give him my idea and say I have faith in his ability to coach TEs and the line and to get us in a better spot. I wouldn't fire him at 10-2.

If you have a sales department that obliterates the quarterly goal but it’s a 3 man team and one guy is responsible for 75% of sales, another 24% and the last guy 1% do you say job well done and give everyone the same bonus?

You fucking fire the 1% guy.

My two cents here;

First let’s consider that with two losses only, then likely that second loss is Wisconsin, because the rest of the schedule is made up of weaker conference teams.

Not averaging 25 points against the weaker conference teams is unacceptable. Also keep in mind the last two seasons have resulted in poor quality offensive results.

Also getting blown out in the championship game would indicate another pathetic offensive performance on national TV, thus embarrassing the Iowa program and damaging future recruiting.

Just in time for the expansion teams of Oregon, Washington, USC, and UCLA coming into the conference next year. Right at this time UCLA is the weakest of those teams and one that any West team (except Maybe Iowa and Wisconsin could give them a game) at this point would struggle to beat.

Sorry Brian, Christmas came early at the end of last season. Ho ho, ho, you gotta go. The only way you stay is to win the Big Ten Championship. Hawkinn3’s point is well stated.
I would LOVE to see that!!!! I would be jumping up and down and cheering for a pay raise and extension for Brian.

I have said it several times and I will say it again here. What a GREAT story it would be for Brian to become a greatly successful offensive coordinator and then succeed his father as head coach. This would also be a great tribute to the coaching tree that Hayden built.

One week ago today I was gung ho about going to the title game. On the heels of that 41 point explosion against Western Michigan I thought maybe we had turned a corner. Now, I really don't want to play the largest giant amongst Ohio, Michigan and UPenn. The last four games against them combined I think we maybe have like 20 or fewer offensive points. I see no reason to believe we could score more than that in another game against one of them. And no matter how good the defense plays it is impossible to win a game when you get under 10 first downs and have under 20 minutes TOP. The defense has demonstrated it can hold for a half, but it looks brutal by the latter stages of the third quarter. It's hard to watch.

Our AD can win her stripes if she makes the Ferentz's fix the offense. There is a ton of Big 10 TV money that could be used. She would be my hero.

I don't see her "making Ferentz" do anything. What I see is someone who's done things his way as long as has that isn't going to change. What he can do is decide whether he wants to change his approach to the offense or whether he'd simply call it a career based on what she tells him.

She can terminate Brian or Tell Kirk that Brian is fired as Offensive Coordinator.

This will upset Kirk and maybe he'll resign....and save the university $40M... but, Kirk won't be terminated.

Yeah she can just say BF can't come back next yr. Simple as that and KF can either hire a different one or retire... People can take that how they want.

I don't think she'd do it in season though. I think the season is going to play out. Good bad ugly or worse.... Brian very most likely isn't going to hit that 325 mark and even if he barely does I don't think she'll want him back. She seems to be much more aware of what's going on with the fan base than Barta ever was. She's active on social media and isn't hiding under a rock like Barta always did.

This has turned into a national embarrassment. The O is a joke and I can't see any new AD willing to give anyone more rope then BF has already had.
Since she's technically who BF reports to it's her call at the end of the day.

Yes KF isn't getting fired no way he could win 6 games the next 2 yrs and they'd let him play it out I bet. As sad as that is. It wouldn't come to that though I think he'd step down. Especially if BF is unceremoniously let go/not brought back.

Sounds good to not renew BFs contract and then let the chips fall where they may but BF is not the only problem. The oline has to be fixed in order for the offense to improve. If you fix the oline whatever that takes then the offense will be better. Part of what’s so frustrating about it is that we are good enough on defense and special teams that we all can see the opportunity to be considered as one of the elite teams in the country if our offense was decent.

No defense can hold up against 90+ snaps per game.
Our offense has deteriorated so badly it is negatively impacting our defense.
.Against quality opponents our defense runs out of gas and gets steam rolled in the second half.
For Ferentz ball to work, the offense has to generate enough first downs & TOP to keep the defense from getting exhausted.
If I were Parker I would angry that Brian's ineptitude is damaging his defense.

It's at a crossroads because how are they going to sell it to QB and WR recruits? It's out there now for two years and no improvement is gaining this season. How are you going to have an effective program/team if this becomes more of a recruiting challenge?
May have to follow Wisconsin’s lead and completely and very publicly revamp the offensive scheme. Use the portal for the immediate players we need to make it happen and sell a whole new program to HS recruits.
Tweaking the current offense will not be enough. The entire offensive staff must go.

This isn't rocket science, but it is going to require some discomfort in the short term to work toward long-term goals.
