The different facets of coaching football

When we talk about how good kf is as a coach, often times the discussion is of he and the staff in general. However, kf is really a tough guy to grade as a coach. Consider...

1. Recruiting... Generally we rank in the middle of the big ten and 30 to 40th in the country. We are usually found with the ranks of msu, purdue and Wisconsin. Given the fact that Iowa has less to work with in state than the others, I would say kf and staff are above average recruiters.

2. Player development & fundamentals... Gotta give staff A or A+ here. They take average big 10 kids and sit near the top of the country in terms of number in NFL. Can't argue with that.

3. Game preparation and scheming... We don't get the number of wins we get without being pretty good at these. That said, our defensive scheme isn't overly complex, and our offense is awfully conservative. I would say our guys do what they do pretty well, and sometimes very well. Now, we may disagree with kfs offensive philosophy, but there's a reason our guys never get their doors blown off.

4. In game coaching... Here's where our coach is weak. Might be below average for a big ten staff. Very inflexible (today being a bit of an exception). There's so many things they do in games that I don't understand...*

But, I'm not a big ten coach either.
