The defensive line Saturday

They came out penetrating, putting pressure on stave, making hits in the backfield,

They really played well for 3 qtrs.

Hardy and Davis are making plays, LTP has been good and steady so this is getting to be a strength. Work on the pass rush and this will be a strong unit.

PParker dialing up the blitzes.

I really thought early in the year that they looked good due to the competition. I think they might look even better now. Our 3rd down defense looks better than it did when we had an NFL roster. If only we would make our safeties pay for their mistakes by losing play time, I would have no complaints.

D is getting better. We need to take care of business next week and then get at least one of the last two.

Remarkable how solid the defense has been over 15 years. Even last year, as statistically bad they were, they still kept you in games.

Equally remarkable how deficient the Offense has been over 15 years. Even the 'good' years (never statistically top half B1G) the offense was setup by the defense.

I can't say enough about this defense. They have some weak links in the secondary and Morris can be a liability in pass coverage, but even with that, they have played two fantastic games in a row. If we had an offense that was average or just slightly below average and could sustain some drives in the second half of games, we would easily be somewhere between the second and fourth best team in the B1G this year. Phil Parker gets my season game ball at this point.

^^agree PParker and his assts get coaches of the year but the players get game balls.

Lowery and King are playing well but the safeties , I hate to get on them, but they play decent and then have a total brain cramp in coverage.

When Spielman said yesterday that Tanner Miller had not idea the TE was behind him on the first TD that sort of sums it up.

D line and LBs played well. Another ******* breakdown by Tanner Miller proved costly again. It would be different if it doesnt happen often but that kid has blown a coverage for a td about 5 times this year. In ******* excusable.

Hats off to Carl Davis yesterday, he played probably his best game of the season. He was drawing a double team consistently and was still getting penetration. I'm positive he caused two if not three holding penalties on Wisconsin yesterday.

We still might be the 4th best team in the Big Ten. It's clear we have lost to the 3 best teams in the conference by far, and we led two of those games at half time and if not for a big play on 3rd and 7 we lead against Wisconsin at half time to. At least we have been competitive. I think we will probably go 1-1 against Nebraska and Michigan.

Fair point. Schedule has definitely been somewhat front loaded.

Even the secondary has been 3/4 good lately. Lowdermilk isn't going to wow you, like ever. But his mistakes are getting fewer and further in between. Lowery is doing better, but he's got to show me more before I really feel confident in him (he's just been too inconsistent this year). King has been very impressive. You want to find the next great corner at Iowa; you're looking at him in #14. I'm not sure he's missed a single tackle this season.

who is the dl guy in the middle that when gets no penetration turns his back to the play and tries to push backwards into the o-line. This happened on many of the bigger wis passing plays including 1 TD.

i never heard of that technique. just watch the first big o play wis had passing..... 2nd qtr

i would hope he would face the qb - to see if the qb was running with the ball, or if he could block some pass down. but nooooooooooo.

Are you talking about the touchdown pass just before half? He was trying to spin out of the block. That's hardly an uncommon technique, and it wasn't the cause behind that touchdown (he wasn't getting to the QB anyway, and Miller blew his coverage and left a receiver wide open).
